OMG! My room is on fire!

Well, summer's just around the corner and the temperature has risen to the mid twenties now (in Celsius). And my room is really freaking hot because of my computer! Anyone know of a good way of making it cooler?

Any modern computer can dish out a lot of heat, especially in a small room.

If you have decent climate control in your house or apartment, you probably haven't noticed. Next summer, turn off your air conditioning, put the computer in a smaller room and keep the door closed. You should notice a temperature difference between that room and the rest of your apartment or house.

well, if its really hot (WHICH IT ISN'T!!! YOU BIG WUSSY!!!!!!!) then what you should do is go to your hot computer, turn it on, wait a few minutes, go into a gaming forum, ask a question, wait a few minutes, read a bunch of joke posts that don't help, and umm, figure it out from there.

What kind of living situation do you have? living by youself? with parents or roommates? house, apartment, or dorm room?

I've had problems similar to yours while living in an apartment in college. I had 2 computers, speakers with big sub for the computer, a stereo receiver, tv, 2 vcrs, and mini fridge. Plus body heat in a closed room can also really contribute. I didn't really like my roommate so I kept my door closed almost all the time. The root problem is that the thermostat is measuring the temp in the living room while not taking into account that the bedroom is way hotter. The easy solution would be to open the bedroom door and get some air flowing through the space. Monitor are also a beast for heat. I wonder if flat panel displays produce less heat than conventional monitors? Also make sure that you keep any receivers/amplifiers turned off when not in use since they make tons of heat.

Can you tell that I hate being hot and have put quite a bit of thought into this?

Yes they produce a fair amount less heat than CRT's. Some offices spend the extra money on LCD monitors because they generate less heat than CRT, saving the money on air conditioning. (The heat really builds up when you have 20 CRT's running at once)

And as for cooling things down?...20C= about 68F and you think thats hot???? Take Toaders advice and open a window.

During football camp one year the a/c broke and the outside temperature was between 90F and 100F over a two week span. We just opened the fridge and freezer, and when we came from outside into our room after just 3 hours, the chill was there, so we basically left it open for the next two weeks. We didn't have to pay for electricity though.

Damn man football practice in 100f weather. I almost die from my practice in the 65-70 average temp. But, have you ever had practice when its snowing? Thats real fun. The sled is like more running. Slips real nice like.
