OK, enough of the pity. Time to get back to the old business of trying to keep the left from leading us into madness.

Weep in your <own> beer, sir. The GOP deserves this, even if it comes at a horrific price. Bunch of corruptocratic morons...

I dunno about y'all, but I'm stocking up on my plastic sheeting & duct tape.

Yeah, they did do everything possible to lose. Even still, the left is a lot worse.

Now would be a good time to tell everybody to go see the movie "Obsession" and maybe they can get it through their thick skulls what the enemy is and why the left is wrong.

To make you sleep with me

'But I don’t want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
'Oh, you can’t help that,' said the Cat. 'We’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.'
'How do you know I’m mad?' said Alice.
'You must be,†said the Cat. 'or you wouldn’t have come here.'

OR...OR you could not let other people's views sway you, and draw your own conclusions in life. For example, Smeg, what is 'the enemy' you speak of? Ignorance? Complacense? Proliferation of disinformation? Cronyism?

edit: Love that pic...:jig:

Now that the Republicans have been voted out of power in Congress, I fully expect the claims of the Democrats (the ones saying the USA will be a better place if the Republicans were out of power) will all come true.
That being said, I REALLY can't wait to live in the paradise that America and the rest of the world will be once GW is out of office.

If almost anyone else had said this, I'd accept it.

Pelosi isn't ignorant as Cheney. To build a legacy that last more than 2 years, she will have to reach across partisan lines and work with Republicans.

And what will result is a moderate policy that everyone can live with.

If not, independents will boot her out like they did with the Republican party.

Personally, I'm most irritated by the way things went in Rhode Island. Sen. Chafee is well-liked and is obviously not a party-line voter, but he got the boot just because he has a big "R" next to his name. If this is the way politics are going to be played, then I need more barf bags, not duct tape.

As for Speaker Pelosi, give her a chance, at least. She hasn't even picked up the gavel yet, and with any luck, the newer, more moderate Democrats will be able to rein her in if she goes off the deep end. (Not that I think she will; she seems too savvy a politician to do that, even if her heart may be out in left field. That, and I'm not even sure how left it really is.)

Have the Virginia and Montana senate races been called for the Democratic candidate? That's a lot faster than I would have expected given the close vote totals.
Not yet, according to CNN.

How will the Republicans control Congress after losing the majority in the House of Representatives?

I am happy with the outcome of Ohio's election. Thank god Blackwell didn't win. I didn't expect him to loose by that much though. Ohio has really sent a message. I just hope that the shift from red to blue will better our state.

How will the Democrats control Congress if the Republicans maintain a majority in the Senate? We have a bicameral legislature. Congress is the House of Representatives and the Senate.

I know what Congress is made up of, but thanks for the reminder.
Republicans will not be able to pass legislation based solely on having a majority in both the Senate and House. They do not control Congress anymore.

You funny man. Perhaps Osama spare your life.

Seriously, if you think that the partisanship will now just dry up & blow away, you must be smoking some seriously good ganja. I'm not saying that there haven't been examples on both sides, but pretending that the Democrats weren't the wellspring of division in the nation is simply naive. Just wait about 3 months.

Not saying that I expected anything else, what with the 2000 election & all, plus the Iraqi invasion on top of the already seething resentment...

Hey, maybe Bush will finally become the bipartisan administrator that he was as governor of Texas, the one that he promised the nation that he would become now that the Democats have a shotgun up his arse.

But if the Democrats take the Senate... we may see impeachment. So 3 months it is.

Hint. Money drives our government. Then ask yourself where does money originate - House or Senate?
