Offical 2004 NFL Draft thread...

Honestly, there is more to the draft than just the 1st round. Just because you know the guys names doesn't make them any good. There have been plenty of Round 1 guys who are either busts or just your average mediocre players. I'm not going to say anyone was good until they actually play.

Top 3 NFL losers in draft:

12.) San Fransico-Traded down. They don't seem to want to be competitive anymore...

Uh...no. San Fran had the 16th pick and they couldve grabbed Wilfork, Udeze, or will Smith. But then they'd have to wait untill the 3rd round to grab a reciever, their PRIMARY need. Instead, they traded down, got TWO EXTRA PICKS (2nd round and 4th round), and grabbed Rashaun Woods at reciever. So instead of the 16th pick they got the 31st plus a 2nd rounder and 4th rounder. How is this a bad deal?

San Fransico has a ton of needs. Trading down is more of a risk. They simply don't look competitve anymore...

Dallas pretty much shot themselves in the foot by trading down. Julius Jones is decent but Steven Jackson is a great workhorse. Now either Marshall Faulk is going to be benched, starter, cut or Steven Jackson will be starter, bench. What a waste of a great RB :(.

Well it's definitely true to say that anyone could be good in the NFL. That's the point all the ESPN commercials were trying to make when they were listing how far down Tom Brady, Steven Davis and Ahmand Green went. But it's still much more likely for a high round draft pick to be a success, and to be a good pick up.

That's why people talk so much about the first day of the draft. Because the known college players are picked up and everyone gets to see where they fit in the various systems. Sure, they could turn out the opposite way of what they were predicted, but just the possibility of that happening shouldn't discourage us from talking about it at all.

yes, well you Giants fans can moan about losing picks for Manning, but as a Saints fan, I'd just like to mention RICKY WILLIAMS
