    Odds for runes to dissappear

    Hi all,

A friend of mine and I have been playing Diablo II for some months now and we've gattered a bit of wealth now. We're almost staring to trade for high runes, but first we'd like to know about the odds for these runes to go poof. Also, is there any way to perm them (aside from transmutating them)? And can runes disappear even if they're socketed?

    1. There are no odds for runes to go poof. If they are dupes, they will poof eventually, where legit ones won't.
    2. Perming is a myth.
2a. Upping a rune won't help, it will still disappear.
    3. Runes can disa[[ear even they are socketed. Once I have seen a runeword missing a high rune on their runewords (But they retain the runeword's stats).

OK, thank you for the information! We'd better be cautious, then...

It's hard to tell the odds for such things. Some duped runes last for months, while others last for a few minutes.

If you had a runeword in which an HR poofed, would you then be able to, for example, put a really nice jewel into the item?

I can probably guess the answer, but it would make for some interesting items.

In case you are referring to a recent thread, that was a display glitch. The OP wrote that they were shown again later.

No, I am not refering to the display glitch. I read a thread from here ages ago that shows a high rune do disappear from the runeword.

Which leads us to the question what happens when further things are put into the free sockets. Either it will destroy the runeword or it will get additional mods. I never heard of these items (which remind me of Ith items from 1.09 BTW), so either it's the first or these items are deleted on the spot when it happens.
