Nova/Orb/Firewall Viable?

Hi Everyone,

I've been peeking through the forums and read several posts that describe orb/firewall, nova/orb and simialar builds.

I always had a soft spot for tri-elemental builds, and would like to try my hand at one.

Skill Points:
20 Orb
20 Firemastery
20 Firewall
20 Nova
20 Lightning Mastery

I will obviously not be able to max them all unless i bring my char to the 90s level. In that case i will make the skills first and the masteries last.

I've tried several 2 element builds, and have decided whole-heartedly to go for three elements.

Other spells:
Meteor - Not a fan of the delay
Hydra - Works well, but tends to be weak overall
CB - Requires up and close spellcasting
Lighting/CL - Many synergies, low base damage

Would this char be able to make it through hell solo?
Any suggestion/feedback is much appreciated :)

A similar branch is discussed in one of the tri-elementalist build threads (in the stickies). It is IMO the best way to go, since you get a nice spammable attack in between Orbs/Meteors. It's at its strongest with Full Tal's since you plan to solo hell. The best bet for maximizing damage at a comfortable level (probably something like 70-75 since it's easy to get to if you do Norm/NM Baal runs) would be to plug numbers in a skill damage calculator to find the best combination, if you're not happy with the layout in the thread.

I've made five tri-elementalists (all Matriarchs) and I'm working on a sixth. Actually, I'm working on that same build. If you're going to put one in warmth, telekenisis, static and teleport, you will not be able to max those masteries even if you get to 99. There just aren't enough points.

It all depends on your preferences as to what spells to use. Make sure you use a skill calculator to find out the damage your sorc will be doing. Your character will also be at her best at players 3-4. Players 8 is doable but very slow. Try to get +skills and items that give negative enemy resistances. If you're on ladder try to get an anni and torch. Also if you can get an Infinity rune word, slap it on your merc.

Now this is my plan to get to 99. My character is currently in Nightmare Act 5. Hopefully she will reach Matriarch status soon. I play Single Player but have access to the runewords through the runeword mod. Only problem is finding the runes at this point.

Fire Wall 20
Fire Mastery 20

Frozen Orb 20
Cold Mastery 1

Nova 20
Lightning Mastery 18

One point in Static, Warmth, Telekenisis, and Teleport. I use Shiver Armor as well but saved the two points by getting a staff on switch from Drognan. I have items that give plus skills and negative enemy resistances. This is definitely a fun sorc since nothing is immune.
