not sure what to do

Hey all, I am a returning player. I used to play a few years ago and want to get back into it. I got a zealot up to level 83 and joining games even in nightmare i get destroyed and can barely kill easy monsters. My build is good i used a zealot guide so i know thats not the problem, I'm pretty sure its my gear. I was wondering what you guys think i should do to find more gear. Its been a while so im rusty on how to get everything. Thanks

Shway

Re: not sure what to do

Collect Pgems and trade those for a Guardian Angel or something, those are not too expensive. And collect some more for easy gear like Peasant Crown and some cheap Spirit shield. You should do lots better with that already.

well im glad ive been rolling my gems because i have a decent collection of pgems but the problem is im not sure of the values and what i should give for those items

Re: not sure what to do

Take a look in the respective fora (whichever Realm you play). You can always make a thread where you offer your Pgems and ask for cheap Zealot gear. Though don't start off with just 5 Pgems or something. From 20 on you can make something happen imo.

To throw a couple cents in -- I'd place a priority on boosting resists. I have no idea what yours are in nightmare/hell, but especially for people starting or starting back up, resists seem to be an often-overlooked thing that can do wonders for survivability. These can come from armors or inventory charms.

For a zealot, a bit of life leech is also helpful. This'll mainly be found on your weapon, rings, or gloves.

@Crowd - I play on UsEast. I'm not sure on play style but I'm usually on evenings and nights.

@Aien - I'm looking for a life leech weap or acc but havent been able to find one. I know to trade is the best way. But its been so long i'm not sure about the value of anything or what items are going for these days

Re: not sure what to do

You may be able to come across a decent life leech ring or two just by playing, gambling, or trading. And my personal all-time favorite inexpensive zealot weapon is a Nord's Tenderizer. Baranar's Star is another good one. Even though neither has life leech, they're both great, and can be had for 3 pgems each, probably.

This is the most up to date price guide for East Softcore Ladder. It covers mostly mid to high quality items, and if you don't see what you're looking for there, it probably means it can be had for cheap:

http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=712280

Also, if you're interested, you can post in the trade forum offering your pgems and detailing out what you're looking for. Be sure to read through the posting guidelines first, of course. I would be quite surprised if you didn't have some takers who would be happy to get you some viable gear for not many pgems.

Re: not sure what to do

And to add, what I meant with playstyle was what Realm, Sc/Hc , Classic/LoD and Ladder/Non-Ladder. But nevermind that. I thought maybe I could sponsor you some items, but I can't.

Re: not sure what to do

that list is for ladder but my pally is currently non-ladder. are the values and prices much different in ladder?

Also i was wondering where the best place to get gems and some HR's are. I've been doing hell baal runs and i know alots changed so i was wondering if theres a better place for drops.

Re: not sure what to do

Oh, sorry 'bout that. I swore I saw ladder in there somewhere.

The prices are very different on ladder and nonladder, actually. That may be good for you, though, because basic currency can buy alot more on nonladder. Any of the items mentioned by Crowd Control and myself can be had on nonladder for a few pgems. Here is the most current East nonladder guide if you'd like to peruse it:

Regarding gem drops, the cow level and Travincal council are good targets, in my opinion. As far as HRs are considered, they're so rare that you pretty much just have to trade for them. Keep in mind too that any HR you trade for can vanish on you at any time, as the majority are dupes. The best thing you can do is either socket them right away, or keep them on a character you don't regularly play.

The keys are used for Uber Tristram quest, which will give you a random hellfire torch. You can look up related threads if you are interested.

The Keys are a Ladder-only thing, iirc. So if you're non-ladder, they might not affect you in any way.

Re: not sure what to do

Ive been reading the thread you posted about the keys and whatnot (thanks for the link by the way) are those usually solo runs? Because i've never seen, at least i dont remember, seeing a game name with uber.

Re: not sure what to do

There's a trick to getting the optimum chance of a key drop from either of the three. I think it's just like normal that a full game will increase the chance of a drop.

What I usually experience is that some players do a very quick run on Nihlathak for a possible keydrop in a full Baalgame, then join in on the Baalrun itself afterwards. The reason there are no public games for these 'keyruns' is that the chance of a keydrop a slim and chances of more than one keydrop are even slimmer (yet possible). Just like all valuable drops it's a free for all principle and the keyrunner wants his keys for himself.

Same goes for a public Ubertrist. No one will do that, since you might have somebody enter your game, finish off the three Ubers and loot your Torch.

Echo Crowd Control. Most of the time people keyhunt, it's either alone in their own private game, or they just enter a Baal or Chaos game and instead of going to Baal or Chaos Sanctuary, they'll go try to find keys instead.

If someone is doing the Ubers in order to get a torch, they're probably doing it alone or with a friend or two, in a passworded game. If a big group is doing Ubers for a leveling game, that'll again be passworded. Just as a note too, the Ubers/Uber quest was initially just a quest and not something to use for xp (I'm assuming that was the design, at least), people just figured out through circumstance they could get fast levels by cheesing it a bit. About the only time you'll see Uber in a game title, it'll be someone trying to sell spots in an Uber leveling game.
