Not ready for Hell?

Not ready for Hell?

I don't think I am, cause' I die pretty quickly, and I don't do very much damage on Hell baal runs..

I'm level 83, Meteorb, done with the fire tree, and working on frozen orb and cold mastery.

My gear is Tal's Mask, Occy, Spirit Monarch, Frostburns/Magefists, Heavenly Garb, some rare belt, no rings worth mentioning, my ammy gives +2 Fire skills, and Silkweave boots. I have +6 skills all together and mana isn't a problem at all, even though I put zero points in energy like most people.

I realize my gear sucks pretty bad, some of it anyway.

274 vita with no gear on, 979 life and 316 vita with gear on.

Edit: I'm hearing I shouldn't put ANY in Cold Mastery (haven't yet), and should instead invest it into Fire Bolt. Sounds like a good idea to me, but, can anyone else offer their wisdom on this?

Re: Not ready for Hell?

Alright, thanks.

Can someone please answer my other question now?
You have enough life, around 1000 and only lag (IMO) can kill sorc. You need max lightresist for baalruns. Those souls like to ambush you for a while you enter throne. Blackhorn's face is nice helmet against souls.

Hard to say when char/merc is ready for baalrun, usually teleing there is quite easy. Hard part is clearing throne.
Those waves are quite easy. If you solo, then clear one corridor and use it to park 4th or 5th waves if you can't handle those. You can kill those one by one if you want while teleing back. Strong merc is almost needed for fire based sorc.

Your gear is not that bad. Baalrun is hard for fire-based sorc as last two waves are fire immunes. But at least you have glacial spike, so its easy task for decent merc.

But baal is not best (pits,mausolem,maggot3 are all nice for mf and lvl) target until you and your merc can do it easily. You can find shako, tal-armor etc.. much easier from other places.

What kind of merc you use, as hardest part is to keep merc alive there. If your merc can survive 20 consecutive baalruns you will too :scratchchin:
Sorc can survive baalruns quite easily, but its hard to keep merc alive in every run.
As merc need to survive while you tele there (souls kills if not good merc)
and in 3th and throne iron maiden curse waits merc. Those hydras kills
easily merc while he kills wave3 etc... Plenty of places to loose that 50k.

Use merc that can handle both iron maiden and stand in the middle of souls, With double tree build you actually need merc just for little tanking and killing those double-immunes.

And put points in cold mastery. You know when orb is strong enough, as then those waves4 and 5(Lister) goes down easily.

Baalrun:
You can do it, but its no point to do it yet. You can lvl much faster elsewhere, you can mf much easier elsewhere. You need still basic stuff that other bosses can drop. Gamble/find decent rings/amus. You need to do baalruns fast as drop is usually bad. Don't hope too much for 50 baalruns.

Re: Not ready for Hell?

Thank you very much DH Amazon.
NP, just did 5 baalruns after post. Nothing good dropped (400mf). Lister was twice fire+cold immune. Merc killed slowly it, but no problem to survive.

Fire+Cold build here too, went with blizz-meteor route. 2.5k fireball and good blizz (3k) as second attack. Meteor I just use to burn 2nd wave while baaling.

Merc still has quite bad items, but she (act1 rogue) survive those runs nicely as always.
I use rogue merc as I like to do diablo too when bored with baal. Or meph/andy. (Act2 Reapers toll merc is in my other sorc, but she does full game tc85 runs, not bosses)

My rogue:
She needs just to survive all my runs (I can do all 5 bosses with her just fine).
Just kill all double immunes for me.
Slow bosses, as it easier to kill those with high mf gear on.
Equip:
Riphook (non upped) 30slow, open wounds, life leech
Blackhorn's Face 20slow more, lightning absorb, prevent don't work with mercs.
Threachery armor 45ias and good poison, so she can kill double immunes faster.
