Noob: WW-Barb-some questions

I'm making a WW Barb, but I dont understand why does WW reachs a massive damage without synergies? (20k ??) Where is main damage source ?
And which is better Grief/Beast or BotD/Beast ? I've read many threads about that, but BotD/Beast is good for PvM ? :coffee:
Thanks for any reply.

speed kills. If you wield 2 axes, you can potentially score 12.6 attacks per second on your target. That's allot of hits.

Greif/Beast is gg for PvP
Botd/Beast is just fine for PvM

Grief/greif can go either way.

If you were looking at something like a 20k on screen ww damage, that's beefy 2 hander damage. Big base mutiplier = big damage.

Greif of course doesn't show it's on screen damage, but I don't think you can beat a pair of them with fort in terms of max physical damage potential.

thanks you, i'm a single players, it's so strange when WW damage = Conc damage

NP. Hit for hit, Conc does more damage. A fully geared Barb with MAX ww and only 1pt in conc, will have a higher damage with conc (given pts in BO). When conc is stacked, the difference will be even greater in favor of conc.

However, the number of attacks per second is so much greater with WW, and allowing hits on multiple monsters, the damage is purposely nerfed as ww is already super-powered by speed.

is it better to dual-wield for ww? how about holding a big 2h weapon for massive ww damange and its range?

I'm lv 54 in Act 2 Nightmare (set to 8), my most expensive gears are: Hwanin's Justice(dropped from Andy), Myth. Maximum Damage is <1000. Is it so bad ?

@pegasuss, I'm lv71 on ladder, using Horizon's Tornado, max WW, 0 on weapon mastery (cuz I haven't decided yet), about 1.4k max dmg, but still suffering heavily to its damage and attack rating in NM...

In short, I'm afraid your damage and lvl takes FOREVER to kill mobs in 8players nm.

@Cosmo. You can always respec once you've got your final gear. Just put 1 in each of the 3 first masteries (or just mace in your case) to get that initial boost and the benefit from +skills.

The best argument for using 1h weapons: Grief. A perfect eBOTD GPA does 668 per hit. Even with an average roll in a weapon with low damage like a phaseblade grief will do 400+ per hit, and hit almost twice as often as the GPA ^^

@pegasuss. Just in case you haven't: Shael the Hwanin's and you'll go from attacking every 6 frames to every 4 frames, which'll give you a 50% boost in damage.

Re: Noob: WW-Barb-some questions

Unlike most other weapons where damage is added as a percentage of the weapon's damage, Grief adds a fixed amount (varies 350-400) independently of the weapon's base damage. The char screen doesn't show this type of damage though, so you just see the weapon's base damage.

Re: Noob: WW-Barb-some questions

Thanks Hubb, but I've socked for my Myth.
50% boost of damage ? Really ? Now, I only do 1-2 hits per Whirlwind. And WW's speed only depends on attack speed from weapon?

yes.

Curious about Myth. It Doesn't seem to have alot of benefits compared to original runewords like smoke, lionheart or even stealth.

among Oath Col. Sword, Passion runeword (for zeal), Grief Zerker, which one makes a better weapon for barb?

Re: Noob: WW-Barb-some questions

Grief is going to be the most physical damage weapon in one hand, using 2 - even better. For PvM, I would tend to go phase blade though, since you don't have to worry about a bad IAS roll and it's indestructible.
