    NOob Questions- gameplay

Hey all, I've returned to diablo after playing briefly 8 years ago. I've got just d2, no expansion

My first question is regarding the number of games available. There are never more than a handful of ladder games. Are there a lot more expansion games up on b.net? just wondering if I should buy the expansion.

My second problem is with unloading items. I've found a few decent set items but just wind up giving them away. Are there any decent trade channels, or do people actually trade/buy in expansion games?

p.s. if i can just now solo duriel at lvl 34 does that mean my paladin totally sucks?

Get the expansion, its like going from poor to rich.
The expansion diablo 2 has more games to join, to bad the most are bot-and-friends games.

We trade alot. Just join a "Trade" game, there are like 100s of people joining every minute and you get what you want after some fights. Its Hell difficulty ofc.

I dont understand. My level 26 druid had serious problems with Duriel in Normal, had to run into town picking up pots/ressing pets and merc, so you dont suck. Hes hard.

lod adds 2 classes, druid and assassin
runes, runewords, exceptional and elite items
    and more set items

there is a classic subforum and tradeforum, but they are not as busy as the lod ones

if you have high lvl classic chars and convert them, they will be way undergeared for the new challenges
its best to make new chars for lod

Classic does have exceptional items (although no uniques among them).

Classic D2 was an intentionally imcomplete game, just like they are doing with the release of D3.

Expansion adds many crucial elements to the game:

Final Act (Baal is refenced in the D2 Classic NPC dialogues, but isn't in the game)
Runes/Runewords (kind of what defines the game nowadays)
Charms (oh, what a difference these make!)
    Jewels
Larzuk reward (to put a socket in something)
    Unique/Set Exceptional/Elite level items.
    2 new characters
    Class specific items

    Almost everybody plays the expansion.
