Non-High-Rune-Using hammerdin viable in PvP?

    So I'll confess right off that bat: My dueling experience (however nearly-nonexistant it is) is primarily with Low Level Dueling. In LLD, hammerdins do a pretty darned good job at tearing everyone new buttholes.

    I have a strong aversion to trading for/trading with/and using gear made from high runes. With that being said, is a hammerdin that doesn't use gear made from high runes (examples: hoto, enigma, etc) viable in PvP?

    Obviously the hammerdins primary form of transportation with Enigma is using teleport. In my case it would be charging. I'm hoping that desyncing will come into play a help quite a bit. Almost negating the issue with not being able to teleport?

    My initial "guess" on gear for the "no-thought-process" setup would look something like this:
    Rings: soj and/or bk
    Amulet: mara's or seraphs
    Helm: Shako
    Armor: Vipermagi
    Shield: Hoz or 45% base resist Spirit
    Gloves: Magefists or Trangs
    Boots: Waterwalks
    Belt: Arachnids Mesh
    Weapon: Wizardspike and/or Spirit Sword
    Switch: Insight Runeword to assist in mana regen/prayer/etc. (I also dont' like mana potting)
    special consideration given to fcr/fhr breakpoints. Obviously, insane rares would trump some of those options listed above.

    Idea's, comments, and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism are welcome. :)

    without enigma you also lose a chunk of PDR

    Hoto is mainly a Vex which IS attainable without duping. My hammerdin is pretty much dupe free, but I don't use him for pvp. Non-teleing hammerdins are a joke IMO, they need to stop and cast their hammers which are short range. Better off going for a smiter or t/v.

    Anyway here is my hammerdin's gear, would have maxed resists in hell if I didn't wear crap hoto/maras etc. Or if I bothered to socket my gear.

    35 FCR Spirit made in 26 resist all Sacred Targe (I was just using it for 125 FCR and it spawned 35 FCR, LOL)
    Frostburns
    Arach's
    Raven/BK
    Mara's
    Treks

    I have a 17/17 pally torch and nothing else. Gives 10k hammers. Every additional skill gives ~1k extra hammer damage.

    I guess I'm hoping that the desync from charging all over the place and laying down hammer fields will help compensate for the lack of teleport.

    My "inspiration" came from all those insane-o classic PvP hammerdins. (but obviously, their opponents aren't using high runes either.)

    I figure, if nothing else, it'll give me a bit of practice for if/when I decide to make a low lvl hammerdin.

    Yes it works but you'll only be laming on the field =P but then again, hdins themselves are considered lame characters (I have one too, not too proud :p)

    Anyways, it'll work without teleport.. Until a necro joins with bone prison, you lose.

    Raven is a must
    Bk ring/wisp
    Wizardspike
    Shaftstop/guardian angel
    Coa - x2 req jewels maybe.
    Maras
    Spirit sacred targe
    Arach
    Trang gloves
    Waterwalks/rares
    Pcombs for 10k hammers, rest life scs. Torch/anni... blah blah. 1 fhr sc.

    You hit 125fcr/86 fhr/40-45 dr (shaftstop)/95 all resist (guardian angel)

    i have a friend with a lvl42 MLD hammy that can hold it's own in HLD games.

    if i BO him, he can clean out HLD games. until a good windy or bone-prison neccy comes in.

    Hammers are way under powered. They should pierce minions in pvp and do even more damage.

    They should be like the old guided, better range/pierce/run and gun.

    They should keep spinning and spinning and spinning outwards until they hit a wall.

    Enigma needs 2 high runes: Jah and Ber which are extremely hard to find, and 99.9% of them that you see are duped. Unless you personally found a Jah and a Ber, if you are using Enigma you are duped! (sorry to disappoint...)

    On the other hand... if you say that Hdins without enigma are a joke, then Hdins are not overpowered, Enigma is! And even like this if there were only legit Enigmas, only a very few people would have those, and you'd see no Hdin tele-in around.

    Also, aren't hammers supposed to take bone prison down instantly? True BP can be spammed but I was just wondering...

    and when they hit the wall cast a random level clvl 24 or 30 spell, like Frozen orb, Blizzard, or Iron Maiden :cool:
