I am glad that they have begun to cut students from some sports. I am a better student than most of my class, and I abhor being in classes with people that hold me back. I also play a sport, volleyball, but we don't attract enough players to hold tryouts, so cuts don't really apply to that. But when it comes to academics, being in lower classes is basically cutting yourself (or your parents or counselor) from higher classes.
Being an academically advanced student isn't easy when mixed with academically hindered students. I know this. I beleive the same goes for sports. The best players are held back by large teams. Coaches don't get enough time then to work with single players as much.
Don't get me wrong, I beleive everyone should have an oppertunity in sports. But that's what club sports are for, the ones sponsored outside of school. I played soccer for a club. I was cut from the best teams each time. But I still got to play. That's what mattered.
