NM Mephisto

Well, Im beginning my career with MFing, and who better to start out with other then Mephisto. Im wondering if Ill be able to take him without getting owned. These are my stats, 20 SM, 20 RS, 1 SR, 6 RSM,10+ CE, 1 of each of theGumbies, 1 Gumby Mastery. I have pretty horrible equipment. Im using a +2 to all necro skills wand. So thats means 22. I have Decrep, confuse, amplify, and the other 1 pointers.

Im wondering if Ill be able to take him, and what sohuld I bring along, and could someone give me a strategy on how to bring him down? Cookies to whomever can. If you dont think I can, then Ill go to normal Meph, or please suggest something else to MF at, im just looking for IK set.

Thanks!

First off, I suggest getting hold of more +skills gear.
Lore helm is cheap, +1 skills. Same as Wormskull, Peasant Crown, Undead Crown. Harlequin Crest is better, and if you come across a Circlet with +3 to summoning skills, that's even better.
Start searching for Necro Heads with +skills. You don't need a good blocking shield on a Summoner, just +skills.
Same goes for Amulet. A blue magic Golemlord's Amulet (+3 to summoning skills) is probably the best you can get at this stage, or at any stage for that matter.

If you're on-realms, look to trade for some gear. Try and get yourself an Arm of King Leoric first off. The bonuses it gives to your army is huge.
All up, you'll probably want to have slvl 30+ Skeletons in the end, that'll allow for very quick and easy runs.

Naturally, Enigma makes it all too easy too. But that might be further down the track for you. Make it second on your list of must-haves after AoKL.

Also, your mercenary is important. You will want to give him a Guillaume's Face helm. It's the very best helm for a Summoner's merc, no matter what else you do. Crushing Blow plays a big role in a Summoner's boss killing capability. He can't get it for his Skeletons, and those Mauler revives only last 3 minutes. So it's gotta be this helm. Also, an Obedience polearm (ethereal Thresher ideally) serves really well too.

Speaking of Revives... yeah, Maulers. Use them. They're found in the Durance level 2. They have some Crushing Blow with their attack. Before you take on Meph himself, revive a couple of them and rush to Meph before they fall. You might want to clear our Bremm/Maffer/Wyand/whatever they're called first, then go back and get some Maulers, then go back and face Mephy.

could someone give me a strategy on how to bring him down?
Here's how I do it, starting from outside Mephs "activation" range:

Head in the direction of the portal keyhole, hugging the moat and watching for the first glimpse of Meph. Once you see him moving, pop a Clay Golem between yourself and him, hit him with Decrepify, and let the army swarm him. If the Clay Golem is able to get right next to him (i.e. not stuck behind skellys), he'll likely focus on your Clay Golem, which is what you want. Just keep summoning the CG whenever it dies and keep Decrep on Meph.

Positioning-wise, the ideal is to have your army in a 3/4 circle around Meph, with the Clay Golem behind him (i.e. on the opposite side from you) That allows you to summon the CG behind Meph, and it can get right up to him to take the majority of the hits.

The whole key to this tactic is to get Meph slowed to a crawl with the combination of CG and Decrep. Although, if your skellys are strong enough, you can use Amp for a faster kill. But keep the CG in his face.

Hope that helps.
