Nissan Skyline GTR

The latest one is Motor Trend Car of the Year. Upward of an unofficial 550hp. MSRP is $80k so that's about $65-70k in these market.

Who wouldn't want one over a crappy Corvette.

Ahhhh Zulu, you and your trolling...

The "crappy Corvette" you're referring to is the ZR1? I definitely would not want one of those, who needs 638 horsepower anyway?

The crappy ZR-1 and what else has US provided that isn't all about horsepower.

Huh? I mean, I know you're trolling, but do you even know how horsepower is measured in an engine? If anything, tight-winding small engines are the ones that are "all about" horsepower. A true trolling artist would at least have his facts straight.

I think he is trying to say something about horsepower/weight or horsepower lost because it can't keep the car on the ground, etc.

The Corvette also has great AC, an awesome stereo, heated seats, every luxury you could want. And it goes like balls.

Oh, and maybe we're being to hard on DZ. Let's humor him, and just ignore the huge horsepower disparity. That still leaves us with the ZR1 beating the GTR around the Nurburging.

The skyline has some of the best safety features around not to mention one of the best 4wd systems and the new pop up hood safety system which makes it safer for pedestrians.
The main thing the Skyline has has over the vette and any muscle car is it can turn right as well as left

Man, now they want to talk about safety features. If I wanted to be safe, I will drive a volvo. If I want to look hot and go fast, I'll drive a vette.

Don't get me wrong. I am trying to say what the imports have offered that is pure awesomeness.

Let see, what has they given us in the recent time. Skyline GTR, 350z, 370z, G35, G37, Genesis Coupe. The new V8 M3 is pretty awesome like the new S5 from Audi.

And the US have the Vette. Ok the Mustang too. The new Camaro which might last 1 year is based on the 4 door Malibu. The Challenger is a Magnum with 2 doors missing. Pretty much all they've given us is a retro sheet metal on exiting platforms with big V8s.

Now the awesomeness of the Skyline is that it's the most powerful 6 cylinder in the market.

Re: Nissan Skyline GTR

lulz @ the above statement. So besides the extremely powerful cars, what do we have that is fast? Why don't you ask Italy what they have that is fast, besides the Ferarris, Lambos, and Paganis.

I guessy ou've forgotten about the Ford GT, the Cadillac CTS-V, and the Viper. Though I guess maybe the GT is out of the price range of the others.

PS: You really can't lump European and Asian imports together, they are two vastly different things. Asian cars are about being small and cheap, with some that are made to perform. European cars, or at least the ones that go like balls, are about quality and performance, with price as something of an afterthought.
Or at least that's how I see it.

Re: Nissan Skyline GTR

Euro cars handle very well, but generally have less power than american sportscars. For years, I poopooed this away, but if you drive a high end euro car you will be impressed. They are all fast, but there is something satisfying about driving a car engineered and built to such a high level. I think the low end BMWs and such are some of the best value on the market of any car in terms of performance and quality vs. cost.

Re: Nissan Skyline GTR

True, but from what I have seen the cost is less important to them that the quality, which is definitely a good thing.

I have heard amazing things about higher end BMWs and Mercedes, and I would most definitely be impressed to drive one. Still though, they are in a different league from Asian cars.

Re: Nissan Skyline GTR

I don't know about "quality". BMWs and Mercs tend to spend more time at the shop than any other manufacturer.
