The only problem is as far as I understand, I can't have an enigma legitimately and interact with the single player ladder. That sort of kills it, although otherwise it honestly sounds pretty appealing. My necromancer is just too painful to play without teleport (and without totally nerfing other slots).

Getting enigma in SP isn't that hard rly.... You can try farming "legacy" items (like 1.09 / 1.07 items) and trading them for more wealth. (1.07 Ravenclaw = SUR) Also LK running is eez. It just requires patience ^_^-

I freely admit it's not to everyone's taste, but I hate to see it written off without just consideration. I would have stopped playing the game years ago if I hadn't moved to SP.

You have directed my attention towards SP and I pressed the Single Player button again after many many years.

I have finally tried the respec thingy, found out that hc chars do not have to die true death, that ATMA soft seems to be able to store items outside chars stash and one can try whichever build as there are fan pages with saves available for download.
Being nostalgic I started a classic barb. Got him to lvl10 and found an unique item in Mausoleum! The /player 8 command doesnt seem so useful for low level chars.
I shall see about trading opportunities which in my case kinda suck in both L and NL.

I still really feel strongly that half a year is too short a time to get up and running unless you can play a lot.

Ah, to be young and in college again =/

I've said this before, they had some sort of poll on the official site about the lenght of the ladder, somewhere around 9 months / ladder won the vote I think.
