Forcing them to go underground might make them even more dangerous?

Well unless they actually did anything, I don't really give a rat's behind what they dance about.
Well, there's the difference between us. I don't support someone who is my enemy - turning the other cheek isn't effective in geopolitics.

It's very hard to be a peace broker when you've aligned yourself on one side of the argument. It makes the other side sort of angry.
Quite true. One of the reasons the Jews don't trust the U.S. - we've not been a good ally, and have treated them like pawns in the past, bartering their national interests.

When was the last time we were attacked by Palestine? I remember when we were attacked by Israel.
I forget which one was the most recent - was it Leon Klinghoffer? Since there is no nation of Palestine any longer, I'll assume you're simply asking which Palestinian group directly attacked Americans (as opposed to Saudis attacking Americans). Even though the Palestinians were Saddam's allies in the first Gulf War, they were smart enough to refrain from active combat with us.

As for the Liberty(?) incident, please refer to my previous paragraph. In some ways, I don't blame the Israelis for attacking us, if in fact they did. http://www.us-israel.org/jsource/History/liberty.html
