[newL] crazy? idea on new ladder: shared 7 classes wearing Set gear...
Like the help-each-other-after-ladder-resets project I think it'd be cool to have a shared account with all 7 character classes that we can play with this gimmick...
They can only use set items! And if a set item is available for a slot that is intended (by Blizzard) for their class, then that is what they must equip! **
Eventually we'll end up with a shared account full of all classes glowing from the exceptional sets they're wearing that anyone can take for a spin. Edit: it's been decided it's better and more flexible to have one account per class.
And, of course, anything people find (other than needed set pieces!) while playing these characters they can keep or add to the giveaway goodies in the stash.
Seem like a fun idea to you?
Of course, since we all start off itemless on new ladder we'll let the chars use the Blizzard supplied weenie new char equip until set pieces are found/donated.
The only tricky part about this that I can see would be voting ahead of time on the stat/skill build plan for the characters, but that can easily be done in a thread like this (do polls work in this forum?). Edit: not a problem, since the decision to use one account per class means more than one char/build variant per class is easy to do.
Edit: ** = imho this means, until you have any of the appropriate exceptional set pieces, the chars would have to wear, when possible, the class intended weenie normal set pieces (e.g. Arcanna's Tricks set for Sorceress = :yuck
Here's a suggested extension of Blizzard's published scheme for normal sets for us to (politely) argue over (my suggestions are italicized fyi)...
Any: Iratha's or Hsarus (but only if one of the following "class" sets isn't available)
Sor: Cathan's or Arcanna's
Bar: Berserker's or Sigon's
Pal: Milabrega's or Isenhart's
Nec: Infernal or Angelic (Devils or Angels, get it? :wink:)
Zon: Arctic or Vidala's
Sin: Cleglaw's or Death's
Dru: Civerb's or Tancred's
A side benefit of deciding this in advance is that people will know where to donate weenie Set pieces to (and people looking for a freebie piece to complete a set for their own early ladder character will know which account/char/stash to look in for spares).
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think many traders/players feel guilty about Charsi-ing set pieces, but it's really a hassle to mule 'em and sell 'em or even give 'em away. Having this resource early ladder should help people and be fun and enable us to Charsi without guilt later on (because we'll know how many spares of a piece are on hand already so we don't need to save it!)
Similarly, for exceptional sets, if I make giveaway/swap mules in these accounts named after the sets, then traders will know (by what isn't there!) what stuff is worth keeping to try to sell (and what isn't)... saving a lot of time and mule hassle.
It isn't much work for me to go in once a week and post a fresh stash/inven pic to a picasaweb gallery to make it obvious what gear is on hand so I'd be happy to do that. (for an example here's the gallery I posted for my recent giveaway--clicky!)
