Newcomer question=)

Hi!

Im just wondering.. I have items that grant me totaly up to 75% better chance of getting magic item, still when I kill mephisto diablo and baal I dont get that good items! Im a sorceress, and I was just wondering if I have to physicaly kill the bosses with a melee dmg, instead of my spells?

Anyway this was in normal difficulty, and maybe they dont drop that advanced items yet!

thanks for any replies!!

It doesn’t matter that you kill him with a spell or using physical damage. The only thing that counts is the amount of MF that you have on your gear (including inventory). When I do some boss killing I take his life down to several percent with my regular gear then I do some MF gear switching (go back to town and take my MF items). Download ATMA. Their you can find a magic find calculator.

Thanks! Just seemed odd since I never got any cool magic items. And I too get on my MF gear just before I slay them, thanks anyway :)

Another question!

What is the best way to find good magic items when playing single player ? Im lvl 40 sorceress and have just finished act 1 on nightmare!

Ive heard mephisto, diablo and baal drops the best items? are there any other demons whom I should consider slay?

Mfing in normal isnt tat nice i believe... u shld start frm nightmare difficulty onwards... nm meph is a good place to start. Or if u really can't survive in nm just do norm baal ^^

i've heard pindle is also another good place to mf kill.
hes the guy just past the garden when anya gives u the red portal. does it just work in hell or also in nm and normal? (i haven't really tried it but i heard it works in hell for sure)
Pindle wont drop often but when he does drop, i was told he drops very nice items. Thats why u dont get the wp for the halls, otherwise it wont work. You just have to keep running past his garden, kill him, and recreate a new game and repeat :)
i could be wrong on this though.

Honestly, Real MFing doesnt start until NM mephisto. Until then, your gear as is should be enough to get you there. NM andy might be good to run as well, but shes been stingy to me (in hell with my 300+ MF barb, she had the nerve to drop all white items) Baically, i would continue questing through the game until you hit either of these points. MFing in normal difficulty really isnt worth the trouble.

On Pindle: hes never dropped me a lot, and my skellimancer kills him every game (his garden his great for raising his army :)) The best hes dropped for me has been 2 rares at once. I also dont think hes worth running except for hell difficulty, same as the pits.

ok thats what i thought, pindle is made for hell mf runs.
i've heard he has the ability to drop most of the rare items if not all of them but he dont drop too often so it'll probably take a while just to make him drop something good in hell

exactly, he's run because hes got a chance to drop almost all uniques ( IIRC all but 3) and hes 30 seconds away esp for a sorc with teleport. Some can run pindle in a minute, and therefore can do 50-60 pindle runs an hour. If you can do this, its more time efficient than running mephisto for example.

75% mf is somewhat low.. sorcs cant easily get up to 300-400% mf

some good places to mf are:

nm andy (for sojs)
hell andy
nm and hell meph
pindle (watch out for realm downs)
pit
nm and hell baal
