Newcomer in the house...

raise the roof and widen the walls.

And let's make it a sound welcome; so that you will get annoyed by me before I even make a second post here.

I've been here for a bit now, although not so often, because I do not have time to play Diablo much or even go to any forums, but I visited, read, learned, thought and questioned.

So far I think that on a large scale I am doing miserably. I made about a dozen of single player characters and all of them went to smack that Diablo's tail against their weapons, but missed the weapons and got it into their face. Thus, I have quite a few characters who come to Diablo when they can, and then die.
That's for my Single Player disaster, for Battle.Net, I found so far that I still do miserable, as I have my only character on level 23 for past few weeks. Where I see numerous people partying and getting together, yet always trying to insult anyone who says anything but some random acronyms in the chat. Thus, I am left with a druid in Act 2 (finally got there) and wonders on how people enjoy this game so much. Since if I am a part of those few who get bored after running same drills for days, there has to be something that I am missing.

One part of it, as I suspect, is "rushing" (or "boosting" as I heard someone mention). Although I bet all of you know how it works and what it is. Despite the pinned vocabulary list, I never got how technique works. Maybe it's because I never ever get to talk to, but the bots (as I guessed) that enter most of the games that I joined. I mean, they are pretty nice to talk to , comparing to normal players, because those would rather kill me, than even look into my face.

Anyways:

Some people like Diablo, others don't.

It's actually quite simple: if you don't mind just logging in, smashing a bunch of monsters (big bunch, actually... huge even), look at the crap they drop in the hope that something turns out to be non-crap... do this for a bit, then log off to do something else... then you can probably like Diablo. It *is* boring; there is no way around that, but even primitve routine can be a change.

Herun, I share your sentiment about not being able to exist in the world of 1337 speak. I suggest you head over to the Single Player Forum and check out the build guides in the stickies. You'll find builds in every class that can take you to the end of the game. And its a very freindly crowd there too.

Welcome Herun, why not go to the SPF and make an intro post there. You'll be welcomed with open arms and maybe even get ATMA.

rush ptr

lolz, rushing is not complicated... just note a few keypts :

REPEAT
{
1. note game name wif - "act 1 - 5 help" or something like "kill babas 3"

2. when in game, glue urself 2 d char wif d highest lvl. follow him/her every step of d way.

3. if u r lost, follow wat d majority of d crowd do.
}
UNTIL (end-of-rush)

Playing the game all by yourself is great but when I do it I have all the gear ready for her when she hits lvl 30 etc. etc. That makes it a lot easier.
To get to that part it's easier to get rushed at first and then go and get some nice items. In the trading channels you can get some very useful items for pgems (in closed b.net). So maybe it's an idea to try that at first and then try to see if you still think it's a "boring" game.

Closed Battle.net....

Sounds like I am not getting there, whatever closed Battle.net is.

And it's not like I prefer Single Player games. I was just a bit annoyed that I had no way to kill Diablo so far.

First off, welcome! :)

I was wondering in what realm you play. If it's Europe then I will be happy to help you out (may it be quests or just to clear something up)

Just try to think happy thoughts :D I guess we have all gotten some serious slapping as newcomers but there are always those nice and patient people out there who bother to explain. You just have to find one.

Good luck!
