Newby PvP Question
I ventured out upon the live realms a couple days ago with my ~ level 12 Paladin and was accosted by a Necromancer of ~ level 20 something who challenged me to a duel. Having just gotten started I was unenthusiastic, but said, 'ok, attack me if you want'. This was right outside the rogue camp.
So he showed up, skeleton minions darting about here and there and I hit him with a smitelock. Probably took a quarter of his life away before he turned around and ran back into the Rogues Camp.
He then insisted that we fight with "no magic". Several times. To make a long story short, it was kind of like "Taunt" without the Barbarian.
In any event, I refused. Perhaps churlishly. But I asked myself, why would this guy want to fight without magic? Especially a necro? I admit to having a concern that he would suddenly pull out the Really Really Big Sword of Death to Paladins while I was there with my Barely Adequate Mace of Killing Small Squirrels and I would be dead and he would pick my corpse clean of my carefully hoarded cache of Chipped Methodists while chortling mercilessly. But maybe I had it all wrong.
Perusing the vast resources of the PvP forum, I find a complex compendium of strategies incomprehensible to the newby, but nothing quite so simple as an explanation of the "non-magic" fight. Can anyone clue me in? Was my paranoia justified, or should I have said, "of course my good Necro", and fought without relying on "magic"?? Was it a trick, or was I just being a 'noid?
Any insights on this from the more experienced here would be appreciated.
I really am enjoying Diablo BTW and appreciate the help I've gotten so far.
