Newbie Imbue question

Hello,

I have read in several strategy type threads to hold off on the imbues from Charsi until you can get a decent item.

I have a few questions concerning this issue.

1: I know that Superior items dont keep their status when imbueing. Does that go for any prefix attached to the item itself. It can be very hard to find normal armor of the type you might want to imbue, but if Cracked, Damaged, or other type of normal armor works then it gets alot easier.

2: I have read several that say wait until later on like Act IV or V before using Charsi's Imbue when you can get decent armor. While going through Act IV I can see there are alot of regular / damaged / cracked type drops of armor or weapons that would be great for the imbue. BUT there is no way to get back to Charsi from Act IV that I can find.

How then am I supposed to use the imbue if I am in Act IV?

Thank you in advance for your help, it is greatly appreciated. I am currently debating whether or not to move to Act V or farm IV for a awhile. When I killed Diablo I got one set item and one unique so I am going to try him a few more times and see if that is a common drop rate for him.

you can take any way point back to act 1 - there are tabs at the top of the wp menu for each of the acts.

that said, i wouldn't worry too much about what you imbue. it used to be a big deal in classic diablo. but with so many better items in lod, it's not worth much.

The simple answer to the easy question: You can use waypoints to jump from Act to Act. at the top of the menu when you activate a WP there are numbers I, II III, IV and V (if youve been to all acts) just click on the act you want and presto youll get the list of WPs in that act.

The simple answer to a harder question: When you get anything imbued, the cracked/samaged/supperior quality is done away as well as all the special mods (like +skills on a totem) are rerolled. All that matters is that before you imbue it is that its name is white lettered.

The complex answer to the hardest question: Imbuing is really up to the person. Most people ive heard save all three to imbue circlets when they are high enough level to get good +skills ( i believe lvl ** but i might be confusing that with crafting ammys) Ive also heard of people using their first imbue early on a class specific item (like a pelt or an orb) hoping for good mods to help them through normal difficulty or until the level for their end gear.

On another note, the act bosses drop better the first time you kill them (in each difficulty) than when you kill htem again. However, with sufficient players and magic find, Diablo should drop about at that rate. Ive recently been playing a necro in SP and ran normal Baal for exp. Players 3 with ~60 MF and he dropped at least 1 set or unique each time. He did however didnt drop any magic (blue) the first time, and i get 2-4 magics each time after.

well i'll put my 2cents worth in here i guess.

most of what Elgar and FreezerBurn have siad is true, as to imbue's that is another mater, imbueing items to use for your is not good, u will find better stuff, save your imbue's for hell found weapons for your merc and imbue at lvl80+ or better stats.

as to running diablo go ahead but do it in public games with low lvl players (lvls1-15) who are lvling as drops will be a bit better or do baal runs in newbie made games (be shure to check QUEST log to see if baal has been killed) or u will go to nightmare.

One thing to add. While cracked/damaged/superior items get those titles taken away from them when you imbue them, ethereal items stay ethereal after the imbue.
