New to the Barbarian...

OK, hello,

I've decided I want to play a barbarian...

Thing is, I can't decide which build:
Whirlwind or Berserker?

I'm wondering, if it's an option to combine them together?
Or would it be totally useless to have 2 main skills? And would the damage suffer because there will be less synergies?
I don't know what I plan on doing with the char, I just find it sad that I've never played a barb seriously...

So, Whirlwind or Berserk?
(Sidenote: If one doesn't mind rushing me through all 3 difficulties and do all useful quests, including Lam Essen and Golden bird, I'll make both a WW'er and a Berserker, just because both they seem very cool builds!)


Sidequestion: Barb's can wield 2 handed weapons in one hand...is that the same for polearms? :S

Barbarians can only wield two-handed swords in one hand.

Whirlwind does not require synergies and ww barbarians usually spends the rest in supportive & passive talents. I would, if you wish to try, is to make a whirlwinder with 1 point in berserk. Berserk is a real one-point-wonder with high damage & it's the only thing you can use if you get cursed with Iron maiden
