New to HC

New to HC

Hi all, quick question.
Where are the NM games? I thought my connection was bad at first but there are hardly any games at all. Why is that? Do people play private games now? Or is the interest just not there?

Note: HC is a whole different deal than SC. :shocked:
I'm playing a Frost Ranger and aside from running for my life at the first sign of a monster, the build is fun to play.

Europe HC ladder you will find that 99.9% of NM and Hell games will be tppkers so i'm givin ya a headsup on that front, just be very, very careful with who you trust and watch others in pub games constantly...if that badly-kitted necromancer is running around erratically in Baalruns throwing out bone spells there is a high chance he's gonna go hostile in 5 seconds The amazon edging her way to the back of the room and changing from FA to start spamming Multi...yeah...same deal

Oh, and wind druids? I have seen one non-pk windy in a game since i came back to d2 so never take a tp from them! Or stand to close to that matter...

(I'm sure you know all the PK shenannigans as i don't want to patronize, just its a very small {usually private with m8s} community and i want to see it grow...if the ladder ever resets again it might...heheheh...like that will happen)

That "tppk" tactic has to be the biggest joke.

I played HC once before, back in V.09. Back then you actually had a chance to run and/or fight back. I don't recall tppk's back then.

Not much you can do when they use a TP to murder you. LOL


They remind me of the PSN stacked Burrito zons of a few years back.

Same entertainment value.

I was PKed by an amazon with multishot on 1.09 once. They called it "trigger pk" back then (you shot the arrows manually but the tp/enter/hostile was done with a hack of some sort). It was much less prevalent, though.

Good luck on hardcore. It's well worth it.

Last Burrito PK i remember on me from 1.09 was some guy with a name like I'mEvilDon'tBlameMe or some **** got my Baranar's (well, dual Aldurs, wasn't lvl ed enuff yet!) FrenzyBarb standing in the Bloody Foothills in NM when Bloodruns were still the thing. I was shifting equipment around, saw him coming but didn't have time to S & E n the pierce would just own u...2 shots was enuff as they would hit you both 4 times(ish) Prompt remake to lvl85

Another lame 1.09 pk was a trapped tp from an assas...

I was trigger pked in the Bloody Foothills as well. She was several screens away though. That was the beginning of the end of public games for me; the idea of being killed with no chance of fighting back or even leaving was just too much to bother with.

(chuckle) I like that comment about running for your life all the time! I have to admit that I play a 'chicken livered' summoner who cowers behind all his summons most of the game. I too recently switched to untwinked HC from SC and am still ploughing my way through normal. I've been too 'chicken' to hit the public games (and afraid of lagging other people's games with all my minions). I'm kinda of a untwinked deviant whereby, I refuse to use the usual might Act2 merc, but try to survive with my orginal quest rogue. (yes, wierd and deviant, but kinda fun!) Good luck in nightmare! My version of untwinked means no trading and only using those items you've personally found. I've just faced off against Izual and am hunting for the waypoint in Act 4 normal. Hope I survive against normal diablo... (shudder).

I was doing a baal run....yes a pub game. <----idiot

This higher lvl druid started spamming tornados and the next thing I knew I was dead. SOme of thefolks in the game were saying it was obvious what he was about to do. Well it was news to me. I think I was lvl 45. I'll rebuild in a few days.

The good thing about having no gear is that it isn't that big a deal when you die. There is nothing to lose.....lol

I recommend playing alone in games with lots of people. For instance, join a Baal game, then go to the Ancient's Way and clear it out (along with the Icy Cellar). The Glacial Trail is also a good candidate (two golden chests, one in there and one in the Drifter Cavern).

Baal games may not be best for this though, since they are made and finished quickly. Go for an "Act X" game and do it there.

Not only do you not have to worry about TPPKers, you don't have to worry about rushing for good item drops either. You should at least give it a try; you may find that it's more fun than you think! =]

How does that TPPK work?
It was very odd. One second there I am, the next I am dead and there is spam messages saying that I have been owned by <insert moronic pker here>

Nah, that's not how it works. You used be be able to use a portal right as you hostiled, but that hasn't been possible for a long time.

The way TPPK works is that they shoot a spell at you, and while it is traveling in your direction, they create the tp and hostile really quickly, so that the spell hits you.

I was dead and msgs flooded my screen almost the same instant I saw the portal.
It was a joke really.

Yeah, it's all done with a program. I was killed by a Sorc with fireball when she was standing just a few yards in front of me, which would be impossible manually for sure.

When I stopped playing a few years ago, accounts were getting banned left, right and center for using hacks. Doesn't that happen anymore?
