new to hardcore, have a few questions

hello all

i've decided to give d2 another shot after a year break, all my old accounts were closed but that doesn't matter since i would be starting from scratch anyway.

i decided to play hardcore this round to try something different, and so far i am really enjoying it. it is alot more exhilirating than softcore and it keeps you on your toes. i've been trying different characters to see which i like. so far i've made a 24 barb, 24 druid, 18 necro, and an 18 amazon that died in the maggot lair (doh).

currently i am pursuing the barb as the first char im going to try to get to a decent level and get some good gear, he seems to be the most fun for me. going with the concentrate/shout/BO/mastery build.

anyway, i have a couple of questions

can someone explain TPPKs to me? i see it discussed alot on this forum but i don't know what it is.

also, is there a difference between hardcore on USWest and USEast? there don't seem to be alot of players in HC East from what i have seen, but maybe its just me. is one realm more of a "powergamer" realm than the other?

Your user name suggests an irony to your post.....but I will answer anyway.

TPPK..is town portal player killing (or similar words)...it is a trigger hack that allows a player to hostile as they tp to town instantaneously...leaving any number of previously fired missiles or spells to kill any now hostiled player in their path. See the Let Me Get this Straight thread for examples.

I have never played West but East always seems plenty busy (come to asia classic if you want to see a thin populace). I couldn't say anything about "power" realms. There are plenty of nice and not so nice people on every realm and there are plenty of "power" players in each of those categories on any realm.

no irony intended, this name originates from playing Team Fortress and TFC for many years, it has nothing to do with any hacking and i wasn't even aware of the corrolation

Welcome to Hardcore. Make sure that you spend some time reading the various Strategy forums dedicated to the various classes. I know last night I found out I knew nothing about Hammerdins, but now I know something! Woot!
