New to Fury Wolf - some questions

I’m making my very first pure fury wolf and I don’t have access to any of the really expensive items out there (eBotDz, Grief, etc.) and I have a couple questions.

  • How is the IK maul as a fury weapon? When combined with the IK gloves, belt and boots, you get all that elemental damage. Plus it’s got good physical damage, crushing blow and is indestructible.
  • What do I socket into the IK maul? Would a single 15% IAS jewel or a single shael do anything? I was hoping to put a -15% requirements jewel in there to soften that huge requirement.
  • Do more points in werewolf actually increase the attack speed for fury?

Also, please comment on my gear/skills:

Helm – Jalal’s Mane
Amulet – generic +1 druid amulet/Angelic/Crescent Moon
Ring 1 – Angelic/Carrion Wind
Ring 2 – Something cheap
Armor – Viper Magi/Something cheap
Belt – IK belt
Glove – IK glove
Boot – IK boot
Weapon – IK Maul

Skills

Werewolf – 10-20 points
Lycanthropy – 20 points
Fury – 20 points
Oak Sage – 20 points
What do I do with the rest of the points? Weak cyclone armor? Grizzly bear? Max werewolf? Feral Rage?

Thanks

I would use this gear and it is pretty cheap also:

Jalas
2 x Raven Frost
Highlord
Lionheart
Ribcracker
Gore Riders
Verdu/Strings
Bloodfists

U should max following skills if u gonna go with pure fury:

Werewolf
Lycanthropy
Oak Sage
Fury
Rest should cyclone armor or summons if u like them more

Why waste points into CA? It'll eat maybe 250 damage and in PvM you'd be having to unsummon and recast it far too often. If you really want CA then use the Rain RW armor >.>

EDIT: I agree with everything else Fang said though.

with the ik stuff it seems like half barb half druid.

but with wolf it can be:

cheap equipt = effective

expensive equipt = godly

Well, most of the IK items are fairly cheap (and I actually have them). Plus, the mods on those items are really nice. Huge boost to strength, some dex, resistance, and enormous non-physical damage on the maul (from partial set bonus).

On the other hand, since nobody seems to like the IK maul, how do you feel about Lightsaber? I think I've got one on a mule.

I'd prefer Azure Wrath to Light Saber given the choice.

IK Maul isn't a bad choice. As you've mentioned, with partial set bonuses it's a great weapon even against phys immunes. The argument is simply for cost + efficiency Ribby is normally better than IK Maul. It's faster, has near negligible reqs, even upped, costs pgems, and rips though any non phys immune enemy. Granted, you'd have to have a elemental damage weapon on switch or some other solution for phys immunes. However, the slots that Ribby frees up leaves a ton of room for customization, unlike the IK partial set idea.

ok, I guess I'll have to be the one to say it:

IK set + Jalals friggin' rocks in hell. There's really no excuse for them to be stearing you around when you were going the right direction. I guess you could trade in what you already have, but I really see no reason since it does work well. I mean, someone just made a Town Dumb Guide revolving around IK set, and everyone was praising how clever and intuitive it was >.< lol

Once you get the armor, you'll have amazing elemental damage +40% CB which will really help you against PI's. Not to mention, the sets just amazing since it pretty much covers all the grounds: you're almost guaranteed max resists in hell, 20% damage reduction, great AR, FHR, etc.

Ribby is really good. It has great damage (but only when up'd, otherwise it sucks) and great FHR bonus. I believe they pretty much swing at the same speed... you'll lose some crushing blow using IK, but you also gain better bonuses and range. Use Highlords & 2xravens and you'll pretty much be set, like they said above

Quit trying to make me sound like a bad guy :p.

What I meant was that Ribby + switch weap frees up for gear slots that would otherwise be necessary for you to use the IK set. Also, the reqs on Ribby are so low. You could go IK set. It's an extremely good option. However, I like switching gear. In that case the IK style is extremely restricting.

Then it's doing it's job, huh?

Oh, forgot to mention. If you decide to go Titan Wolf IK Set style all the way.

What the bigguns already said. It´s basically a decision between strength req and gear flexibility.
If you go the IK route definitely try to get the armor, too. With Jalals, IK gloves and belt you will need 167 str to wear it, but this will be worth it IMO.

Cheers
