    New to Druids...

Hello I am new to druids. I wish to create a melee druid. Could you please tell me some information about melee druids, including what the basic effective builds are for 1.10.
    Thank you.

Welcome to the Druid Forum!!! :D :D

Well, melee Druids come in the Shapeshifting variety, for almost all effectivenesses.

    For a Werewolf:

    20 Werewolf
    20 Fury
    20 Lycanthropy
20 Oak Sage or Heart of Wolverine (do you like life or damage?)
Other than that, get some minions going or boost your Feral Rage for charging up to leech with.

Strength either enough for equipment, or maxed out for damage.
Dexterity enough for equipment (unless you think blocking is worthwhile. Two handers are better for PvM, though)
Vitality either maxed out, or base.

Divide your points between Vit and Str, basically.

    Werebear:

    20 Werebear
    20 Lycanthropy
    20 Maul
20 HoW (WBs need AR pretty badly)

Stats go the same way as WW.

Then there are Rabies and Fire Claws, but I don't know a lot about them, so maybe someone else will explain, or you could read a guide floating around somewhere :)

Go to the stickied Guide Thread, that's why it's there. It's there to help you with various Druid Builds. Each guide has it's own thread for questions and comments.

Yep, guide thread, if you're playing hardcore though I recommend a shield. Softcore a big 2 hander is better though.

    Thanks everyone.

I'd like to know about weapons now please.
I've looked at the items on battle.net and it the druid is faster than the other characters when weilding polearms, two-handed axes, and the maul and great maul.

Could you please tell me which one you reccomend and why?
And also, if I was to choose Mauls, requiring no dex, would i have trouble hitting things, and would it be sensible to get some dex?
    Thanks.

Don't trust the wording on weapons, use the calculator we have and the guides we have.

Weapons depend on what type of build you are, and there's plenty of melee Druids, and they differ in what weapons you would want. What you need to do is figure out what you want to be and then we can help you out if you have any questions on the guides that we have.

    Nah, you wouldn't need dex.

I won't need dex? None at all? And I'll still be able to hit things? where do druids get enough AR from.

Also. I've seen barbarians and other melee character speak of troubles surviving in hell without a sheild, and if they don't have a sheild they say they need a lot of defence. What's the situation in relation to this with the druid?

And also can you use feral rage and fury together? And is it good to?
    Thanks.

Yes, you can use feral rage and fury together, and yes, you should.

Nope, don't need dex. You'll struggle at points, but you should be okay for most of the game... just have enough leech/resists to counteract everything.

Druids can get good AR from their attack skills and from the Heart of Wolverine sage. WBs virtually require HoW, but Wolves generally get a lot of AR from Fury and the Werewolf skill.

You can do without HoW in PvM if you wanted to make more of a Hybrid Attacking Bear. I just like HoW for more Damage in PvM for a straight Mauler.

Well, for PvM you don't need to max Werewolf, as your AR should probably still be fine without it.
