New PVP player, what is so fun with PVP?

I have played D2 for many years now, but have never tried PVP.
So i need to ask you around here, what make's pvp so fun?
Just killing other's? Making money by stealing it from dead one's?

Some people like it and some people hate it and are dedicated pvm'ers. Try it and see if you like it, it's mostly about adding a new challenge to the game, and about competition.

I prefer goldfinder barbs for massive amounts of cash :wink3:

I have read a few thread's now about PVP.
And have a few question's for you :

1. Is there any sort of Leuage or something for PVP?
2. Is there any different between my pvm char's i have and a pvp char? Or can i play pvp games with my pvm char's ?

Well, there are private leagues that have specific rules, but that's it.

Most PvM characters do not have the gear capable of proper PvMing, since PvM does not necessarily require max block, high PDR% and lots of life.

Well, some characters can do both PvM and PvP fine, a good example being the Hammerdin.

One example is a fury/rabies wolf can't solo ubers but a hammerdin can do it with right gear.

Pvp is actually a challenge, it shows you how good you are dueling tons of people all over the world. Pvm is not a challenge and pvm chars dont have the gear to pvp. You also get to duel millions of players instead of killing the same monsters over and over again. :smiley

Well doesnt he? He supports gm pvp, as in no gold stealing. If he would be in the need of gold, he uses his gf char. One doesnt cancel out the other.

No offense, but claiming that taking the gold that the character drops after being killed in a legitimate 1v1 is somehow bad mannered is ridiculous. It's just gold, you should be happy you don't drop all of your items.

If he would be in the need of gold, he uses his gf char. One doesnt cancel out the other.

Well, it's quite character dependant. For example, I use a BvC, so I'm constantly in the need of those expensive blue ones, costing 900 a piece or 15 100 a belt. Not exactly easy to go around in publics carrying, for example, 1 510 000 gold when people pick it up just for the heck of it.

So, I've long lost my concern as to whether people are going to call me a noob or whatever when they lose and I take a blue one or two from their corpse, or use "their" gold to buy a few blue ones. If they happen to beat me, I can just do a gf run for another 100 000 or so gold.

Anyways to the poster - There are a lot of reasons why people PvP, just as there are a lot of reasons why people PvM. You don't 'gain' anything from PvPing aside from a reputation and knowing that you can beat someone.

plus pvp is much more exciting than killing the same old brainless monster over and over again.

Taking gold in a duel is widely known as bm. Atleast in pubbies, where you normally would make some gold. Maybe it isnt the absolute truth but its still a guideline. Whether it actually is bm or not is beside the point.

And by bm, he means bad mannered. Anyway, I play pvp because it's much harder to kill something there. It's just more exiting. Few (or 1) mistake(s) and you are dead, cause healing potions are not allowed:laugh:

lol taking gold is bm?


so what about when i need to repair or my gear, or i need pots, or i want the gold to gamble at gheeds?

gold can be generated quite easily i.e i use a gf barb and if im in a pub i hide gold a wp if i dont want stolen or i simply make sure i dont die..


u should be greatfull that the ppl don't nk u imo..
