New Pope, or Not?

New Pope, or Not?

So watching the news at my office, the media's gone back and forth now twice abotu what color the smoke was from the chimney, and to be honest, it started looking black, then went white, and now has settled on gray. The crowd in the Basilica is confused, but cheering on and off, and most online news sources are waffling on what happened too.

So in this day and age, shouldn't they use some other stuff to pick more definitive colors? Green, maybe? Red? Something? Against a cloudy sky, determining what's supposed to be white and what's supposed to be black is kinda tough.

Man, I thought I was going to be the first on this. It was only posted 1 minute ago on cnn.com.

Anyway, I hope the new Pope is a young guy, or at least one who is a little more active than John Paul II in his later years (my only memories of him). Even though I'm not Catholic, I'm excited to see what a fresh Pope can do.

Sorry, had the jump--we have TVs on at my office.

As expected: Ratzinger. The oldest and most conservative of them all.

Going by Benedict XVI...

Apparently he's said that homosexuality is a tendency towards evil, and the pedophilia scandal in the US Church was a plot against the Catholic Church.
