New NBA giant from china

I read in Sports Illustrated that a 7 ft 8" man from china named Sun Ming Ming tryed out for the heat and is going to the NBA draft. Do you think that this is just the start of more giants coming from china to the NBA?

He also wieghs 350 pounds if you want an idea of how big he is.

My Lakers who in desperation of a big man just worked him out. He has legs like tree trunks. Unfortunately, it means that he's planted to the ground and has zero lateral movement.

He looks like a project. 2nd rounder at best.

What ever happened to everyone one from Japan and China staying small?

There must be something in the water in China.

A guy that tall and that heavy won't last long in the NBA (his knees will be shot after 4 seasons, and that's if he plays only 75 games a season). Given what I suspect his medical condition to be, his cartilage just won't last that long.

I saw a website on this and there were more players over 7'2" on the chinese national teams than there were in the entire rest of the world combined. I was like O_O

Most of them still are :)
Keep in mind, that in a country like China, with over a billion inhabitants, there are statistically more 7'2''+ people than in any other country...

Bogut is the only player over 7'0 that will make any impact in his first year, there is a kid from the former USSR that's 7'2 that's from lithuaina i think that has shown some skill but needs to bulk up to make some impact. If i had a top 10 pick i would see if i could trade it too the Pistons for Darko, who's just sitting on the bench.

It's sort of a misconception. Mandarine Chinese are pretty tall. So are Koreans. It would appear that people from the Northern & colder regions are usually taller. I think it's the same with Euros (I'm taking a sample of a Noregian and an Italian).

By the way, the Dodger's latest fist baseman is a Korean guy named Cho who is 6'5", and 248 lbs. That is lindbacker size bordering on defensive end playing first base. To bad he doesn't have a throwing arm, could play him catcher and dare runners sliding home.

I can already see the newspaper heads in 2020:

Average height of NBA players now 10ft 2inches.

I really think they should increase the basket to 15 feet...seriously, it would make the game more interesting.
