    New Character Classes

If Blizzard were to make a D3 (and not some sort of World of Diablo) I would think one of the essensials they'd need is new character classes. Perhaps keep some of the old favorites, but, with nothing new no one would buy. So, if you're a Blizzard character designer of sorts, what kind of new character classes would you like to see?

A friend of mine mentioned he'd love to be a gloam.. but I'm not sure how fesible that is. :p

This subject has been talked about...don't really feel like looking it up. My top choice though was an alchemist...I went rather in-depth about some of my ideas at the time...but right now I'm too tired to describe them all.

Some kind of sorcerer. I'd like some "real" magic like illusionist spells, conjuration and such. And I really would appreciate to be able to choose male or female character. I still think it feels weird to play a female character.
Angel would be nice too, or devil :)

I think multiple genders of classes would be a good idea. Basically, for the current classes, that would mean male and female iterations of most classes (except Zon and Barb...set them opposite to each other since reallly buff woman scare me). Can't think of new classes...eyes in pain....

I've liked the idea of some kind of character that could use the 2-handed staffs that sorcs usually use. Some of those have some fun physical and elemental damage and putting that to use with some kind of spell-casting medival martial artist would be fun. Martial arts different than the Assn of course. Maybe give them some sort of class specific armor (like a cape?) that has spell-type skills on it. Maybe a skill to freeze time, reduce damage taken, go invisible to certain monster types (undead) for a short period of time... etc.

I'd like to see a Jacko character. He'd own in PvP as long as you had your Molestation Mastery maxed.

Female barb could look like Anya. But I think a male Zon would be anathematic.

You are both wrong. The female barbarian would be Hilary Clinton.

    riiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Ninja is more or less the assasin.....I don't quite see the point in making another class for the same theme.

Female barbs would be more like Charsi...buff female smiths.

A monkish kinda of character who used the staffs wouldn't be too bad I suppose...kinda fun. Not entirely sure what he'd do though....

But I'm still for the alchemist, should there be one more character class. Goes along best with the theme of European characters.

I think the Female barbarian would look more like Janet Reno.......

The best class would have to be a Howarddeanassin......He could yell at the top of his lungs and have all the mosters run away from him in disgust and viciously attack the new and improved JohnKerryazon....

We're going to Lut Gohlein! We're going to Kurast! We're going the Pandamonium Fortress! We're going to HARROGATH!! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Man that would scare me, I can tell you that much.

I think LOTR chars would be cool.

Dwarf : master of the axe
Wizard: uses some spells, but is able to lead parties well, a paladin kind of char mixed with a sorc
Numenor: Wielder of spears, swords, and shields, capable of using extreme leadership, a mix between paladin and a barb kinda.
    Elfs: A amazon basically

*I know it wouldnt happen, but a d2 with LOTR chars would be cool*

Summoner: Summons various types of creatures, including types of creatures you fight
Ninja: Can use two swords at once (but only 1handed ones), has elemental throwing skeins that also deal status damage
Gunner: Uses a gun...nuff said (kinda like an amazon w/out the javalin skills)
Beserker: A barbarian with druid type skills, befriend animals and beserker skills
The Fool: Wields a mace and a hat with bells, has aura's and actions that help teammates and mess up monsters

What i got off the top of my head...
(And i need to play less FF:Tactics)

    Yeah, you do :p

    Gunner, the mog....
    Ninja, human
Fool - way too much like the juggler
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
If I may: Some earlier post(s) have made references to particular races that may be viable. However, there is a difference between races and classes...most people already know this, but just for clarification:
Race: A species (most usually humanoid) that have particular cultures, particular attributes that they are strong in, and live in certain areas. These would be:
    Elves
    Dwarves
    Orcs
    Humans
    (Undead)
    Trolls
    Tauren
    Gnomes
    Hobbits etc.
Classes are particular characters that train in particular fields. Such would be:
    Amazon (DII variation of archer)
    Druid
    Barbarian (DII variation of warrior)
    Necromancer
    Mage
    Wizard
    Thief etc.

So please, don't post "Elf" or "Dwarf" as a viable character class.

On a side note, it would be cool, though sorta cliche if races were added to the game.

    A Freezing guy
    A Poison woman
    Oooo oooo! A scarecrow
    Hmmm...maybe a Joker
    Wait! A cat woman!
    Or a Robin
    How about a Two-Face?
Another would be a guy who attacks people with wierd question marks and endless talking.

Actually, it would be cool, but only if it were in keeping with the world of Sanctuary as we know it. You've got the goat-people wandering around the west, cat-people from the deserts of the east, and various other potential races around in the games. That would be cool. But adding something like elves or dwarves into Sanctuary at this point would be incredibly lame...

Actually, even adding like the cat-people would be kind of lame. I mean, if they're a "race" that regularly interacts and forms a part of Sanctuary society, why don't we see any of them wandering around with the other citizens in Lut Gholein? I don't think races could be added to D3 without serious breakage of the whole Sanctuary atmosphere...
