if this is true then the "bugged" (ie HACKED) items may be making their return...well mi kinda knew this would happen and frankly im surprised it took them this long. looks like the realms will soon be ith-world again. (sad face)

When 1.10 was release blizzard promised some form of protection against the hacks and all. That has proven to be a lie. Dont buy WoW, they cant maintain a gaming realm, that much has to be clear by now.

Just because an old brick breaks down after years of abuse, doesnt mean a new brick of the same dimensions will break down as badly. Blizzard has a chance to learn from D2 and build WoW a little better. And no matter how hard of a brick you make, given time someone with a hammer will still break it.
Dont blame blizzard for trying, take away the hammer.

I think WoW would be better than D2. D2 is just too old of an game. If i were blizzard i wouldnt care much for it anymore.

You cannot compare D2 and WoW. Period. D2 has waaaay too much of the game client side and single player code is available for all to study, where as an mmorpg keeps the majority of the game server side.

Will there be hacks? Of course. Every game has hacks and cheats, it's a matter of setting a strict policy for banning the cheaters. Which is also easier to do in a pay-to-play environment.

WoW will be pay to play though right?

Yeah, D2 (and SC, and all the old blizz games) are ancient, im suprised blizzard bothers releasing patches and even maintaining server. Think about it, they make NO money (these games are like 5 bucks in the discount bin) and then they spend a whole bunch to keep up servers.

(assuming WoW is P2P)They'll care, because if the server suck, no one will play, which means no monthly income.

Anyways, if you want to do something about it, make a union with a bunch of other D2 players and write anti hack code or something (kinda like Cheating Death for HL mods)

hey..theres a good idea, make everyone download a client and then join client games.

something like that, anyways, We've had it better than we thought. Im sure if you wanted D2 to be hack free, a nice large lump sum donation to Blizzard could get the ball rolling.

Diablo 2 and Lod is still a game sold en mass. Check some of the charts of best sold games in 2003 and you will see Blizzard does make money on Diablo 2 and LoD. The decision to release 1.10 may not have been one for the fans, it porbably was to buy some time for the WoW release and make sure they dont loose their fans on other games out there.

The fact they 'care' is not so much of an issue. The fact they cant even release a simple server fix without messing up something else (e.g. Chaos Sanctuary seals) shows they are UNABLE to maintain a realm. Go buy GuildWars and forget WoW since its a DOA game with ugly graphics.

And on the statement that it is easier to ban people on a P2P. Realize there will be lawsuits and Blizzard will not win them all. If they cannot provide hard evidence on the bannings (something they never did on the Diablo 2 bans) they will face legal charges. That is how silly these online games have become.
