new Bowazon Critique

I don't have that much equipment (in terms of good rune words) but I will be using whatever i have from my current (1st) Amazon

Mav set minus the bow
raven frost + carrion wind/mana leech ring
eye elitch
war traveler/gorerider (probably war traveler)

bow choices I have are
Buriza (nef) (most likely primary, cold dmg)
Lycander
Eaglehorn
Harmony (for the + valkrye)

skill pts allocation
20 cold arrow
20 freezing arrow
15-20 valkyre

the rest I'm not sure, maybe some in CS, Multi, penetrate (last time I max this), or guided (max this even?). And I'm not sure how the evade, dodge or avoid works so I'm not sure how many to put in it.

I'm aiming for lvl 80 so that means I'll get 79pts + 12pts (from quests) to work with. I'll probably get it up to 85+ afterwards though.

any suggestion would be nice. I'd like to solo hell/meph runs/pit runes/baal runes if possible

eq looks ok. if you are using freezing arrow, gore riders is not a good choice imho, because for some reason the phys damage disappears so there's nothing to "carry" all the mods. this also leads to a big problem with mana, as leech is almost nonexistent and high level freezing arrow a huge mana drainer. try using tir runes or +3-5 mana per kill jewels.

another solution is to put 1-5 points into multishot (from +skills, 5-12 is good) and use ms to leech back mana while the monsters are frozen. this will also give you access to decent phys damage. iirc, one multishot would refill my bulb between fa's.

re: bow: i always use buriza on all my zons. the extra speed on other bows just can't compare to the damage on a buriza, imho.

re: passives: if you use buriza, you get 100% pierce automatically, so you don't need the skill unless you use a different bow or go hybrid (more on this in a sec.) also, since you are using freezing arrow primarily, crit strike is not that important as the phys just disappears.

imho, dodge and avoid are the most important skills in that group. 90% of the time you take any damage at all is while you are attacking, especially since you are using a valk. you will seldom be in such serious danger running that you will need evade. also, i tend to die the most with my zon while running away, so anything that would slow me down such as evade i don't want. i think from now on i'm going to put the majority of points i budget for these three into avoid alone, as i'm rarely ever in melee range.

i always put 20 in valk, it's the best skill. this time, i tried synergizing valk with decoy, and i'm very happy with the results. first of all, my valk never ever dies now, even to situations that were iffy for her before, such as extra strong boss packs. second, the decoy is now an extremely useful tank for me, and doesn't have a cast delay like the valk.

re: hybrid: lightning fury and jab are awesome skills to have. jab is the best boss killer i've found with any of the zon skills (as i usually use gore riders.) while other skills have more damage, jab seems to hit more often than any others. imho, i would definitely spend the 23 points to get 1 pt jab and 20 pts in lf (w/2 pre reqs). however, you will need some points in pierce to take full advantage of it.

re: runs: meph runs are pretty much out, imho. dolls in tight spaces are zon kryptonite. baal runs are better, imho. just get 1 pt in guided arrow so you can shoot around corners, and learn how to position decoy/valk so gloams don't shoot through them and into you. baal himself is a pain for zons, especially bowazons. pit runs are great for bowazons, as almost nothing is pi down there. i much prefer using LF though in the pits, as only one monster type is normally LI.

alright here is a revised version :) after looking through the skills again and my new equipments please, give some comment and suggestions

bow and arrow
20 cold arrow
1 ice arrow
20 freezing arrow

jav
20 poison jav

Passive
1 inner sight
1 slow missle
1 decoy
1 dodge
1 avoid
1 evade
20 valkrye

total ponit = 87

since at level 80 I would have 91 point that means I have 4 more points to allocate. I'm thinking of strafe/multi for mana leech or more in to avoid and dodge?

equipment
rings - raven + carrion (unless I find bk or something rare with dual leech + resis)
ammy - highlord/eye elitch (or rare +2 ammy if I can find any)
boot - war traveler
mav set (with mav bow now)
secondary weapon - Ghost glaive or Gargoyle's Bite or titans (probably titans since upping the skill definite helps to increase poison dmg)
secondary shield - spirit or stormshield (not sure on this one yet)

merc
act2 might + insight (helps with mana problems)

I figure (and I haven't seen) there isn't a lot of monster that has both poison and cold immunity so I should be relatively safe in hell?

as for stats point allocation

I need 121 str and 152 dex to wear mav's armor + bow

I'll aim for probably 121 str and with mav's set bonus of +20 str and wartraveller +10 strI I only need 5 str in sc charms to use stormshield or monarch spirit

I'll split the rest of the stat point as par 3 in dex and 2 in vit or maybe 2 in dex and 2 in vit and 1 in energy?

I want to hover around 800-1000 hp (is that reasonable or too much?) I have several sc hp charms

my resistance will probably be low while using bow but should be maxed out when I'm using jav so I won't worry too much on that

I think it's pretty solid but just not sure about the poison jav (i have yet see any posting on this)

for what the 20 poison javalin??

and i use a ICE bow REALY good but make in a MB, and us WT for those extra phys dmg cause you the FA dmg and youre normal dmg without any reduce, so gore helps still

i would had maxed strafe and if you use mav set use whole set as that is best for a FA set (except if you wanna be a 5+ hr spending:p), well if you use a dual leech ring (5% ML at least) and use strafe once in a while it will work out good without insight youre merc if you can pay use infinity else just you could use a high dmg merc weapon like reapers toll or obedience..

and for poison immunes there are ALOT of them and cold immune pret much to but unles you want to w8 till youre amazone gets a beard w8ting till monsters die of that poison, i would had maxed strafe and use a few bow skillers for some multi arrows for crowds of cold immune..

and 1-10 poison in valkyrie is more then enough cause if i would have put some spair points in evade/dodge/avoid (about 5x for all wich is about 5-8 points each) and as i can already see you gonna lack much AR so the rest would go in penetrate, try going for a small 6x-7x pierce (1-5 points more then enough) and for a 7x pierce. take care for a little 7x criticail strike (1-5 points enough)

so this would be best build for you as pure bowazone wich mav set is made for:

bow and arrow
20 cold arrow
1 ice arrow
20 freezing arrow
1-10 strafe

Passive
1 inner sight
1 slow missle
1 decoy
5-7 dodge
5-7 avoid
5-7 evade
1 valkrye (all points left in here)
20 penetrate
±5 pierce
±5 criticail strike

youre merc will be a good tank when you use:
eth reapers (amn or shael)
eth stone 28xx+ def
eth andy face 10% LL (ral or um)

youre gear:
full mav set (shaeled bow, 15 ias jewel in helm, and shael or um in armor)
1* 2xx/20 ravenfrost
1* dual leech ring (5% ML AT LEAST)
highlords (standard to me)
War travelers

this will be a good tank ama and try to get good LL and ML (try even get 2* dual leech ring with bith 5% ml and 7+% LL) for realy good tanking

Thanks for the suggestion

I'm almost done building this amazon :)

and already thinking of a new one to build  (WF + EH)

but I love this FA, most monster just freezes and my merc just kills them, well until I meet some CI PI monster

poison jav is a waste imho. the key to poison in any situation is to stack it from charms and such, and the clouds won't carry it. the poison compared to duration is also pitiful, unless it's a misprint at arreats. basically it looks like 2 damage per frame, which is terrible, unless it is supposed to read "2946 per second for 46 seconds" which would then be 122 per frame.

compare this to LF. one bolt will come out per monster on screen, to a max of 21 bolts at 580 per bolt, or 12180 damage, times two for 1 pierce, times 3 for 2 pierces, etc.

if poison jav is your only javelin skill, you are much better off just getting more bow skills. strafe, guided or multi; exploding or fire arrow; or magic arrow.

i stopped using a bow with 1 pt jab/20 lf and i've only seen 1 li/pi that i can recall.

i realize that once i did some research

so far i've put down 1 pt in all my passive and around 9 in my valk. So she can take the hits very easily now while I work on the monsters

I've maxed out my freezing arrow and slowing doing my cold arrow

i'm still hesitated on putting in strafe since i'm getting more than enough mana back to keep firing my FA

I got around 11 skill point left and i'm still 50~ so probably a day of baal run today and I'll be able to try the mav suit :)

I'm just wondering if I should get two raven frost? (low dex) or one raven frost + some other ring with leech or resistances?

put all the rest of youre points in pierce and criticail strike

and and youre 2 ravenfrost (20 dex on each) = 40% ed and you get like 4xx more AR wich then get the upgrade from max penetrate and from youre FA wich will be around 500% wich makes 2K more AR wich is realy useful cause even my ama wich around 18K ar not even hits baal for 99% wich is the goal of each pvm char with no sacrficing of much gear ofc~~

you could take a dual leech ring with all resit and dex and AR wich might even be better but a good one (where i speak of) is more expensive then a perfect ravenfrost...

since this is a FA Bowazon, should I bother getting some more +bow skill GC to increase my cold dmg? I believe right now its sitting at around 2k-2.3k cold dmg at lvl28 freezing and cold arrow

totally up to you, imho. if you find some, sure go ahead. for me, i wouldn't buy stuff like that for a pvm build. last night though i gambled a 20 ias/2jav/3ml glove, which is very sweet for my javazon, but i wouldn't have gone out to buy one.

trying to find some now
but you are right it doesn't add too much, so I keep trying to get nice cold dmg sc + res for her

she can solo nm baal pretty good

still have not decided on MS or Strafe probably need to decide on what soon so I can lvl my merc faster to use insight :)
