Never really played sorc before. . . what build?

I've always leaned towards melee characters and summoners, never really placed sorceress through the game.

I'm thinking of going cold/orb. As a cold sorc do I really need frozen armor or mana shield?

Taking a glance at a few guides I'm thinking of maxing Orb, Cold Mastery, Teleport, and Ice Bolt, and putting a few points in warmth right now.

that sounds fun, but I would suggest may be having some other sort of dmg besides ice though, since you are new to sorcs, I think you may find dual trees more fun.

If you're making a sorc for magic find I'd suggest a pure blizzard sorc over an orber. If you're just building it for general pvm then the skills you posted should work just fine. No need for the cold shield skills, I don't ever use energy shield so I can't help you there.

The funner sorcs for PVM are dual trees, they can be cheap and effective.

I´d sugest a meteorb or maybe a CL/Orb Build (the CL ins more fun, but maybe a meteorb is cheaper).


Do you plan on getting rushed, lvling and mfing or you really want to play the sorc from act1 den of evil to act5 wordstone chamber?

I'll probably end up using her for MFing, most likely Countess runs in Hell for runes. But also general play. I'm thinking Road Ratt might be right for Blizzard. Since it has more synergies, I'd benefit more from +skills with it than I would with orb.

Baal dropped the Occulus for my Barb the other day, so I know when she gets into her 40s, she'll have that

If you plan on running Countess, you should at least go with lightning, because the Countess is dual immune to fire and cold.

You could also let your merc take care of her of course.

Actually, no. Synergies only count hard points, not points from +skills.

Actually, no. Synergies only count hard points, not points from +skills.

countess is fire and cold imune, all her minions are cold imune. Blizzard might not be a good idea.

I was thinking of doing lightning as my secondary element. Sounds good to me.

I run countess with my blizz sorc, you need a merc with good gear to do it though because he will do the killing while you static. It's not too slow once you get it down.
