It's been that way since Germany lost the war, kind of like how Japan can't have the old rising sun flag anymore either.

edit: mixed i'm sure you can figure out what to replace the **** in the url with.

    I'm getting 404.

From what you posted though, meh. It sounds like the songs in question probably fall under hate-crime laws. Whether they should be banned or not I'm not prepared to say. I will say that, in this case at least, I don't see it as much of a loss.

People should be allowed to listen to whatever music they choose, and believe in any set of beliefs that suits them, as long as they do no harm to another individual. I think its sad that some 300 people in the BundesRepublik had their houses raided, because their thoughts were deemed by the state to be unacceptable.

edit: Tech, FYI the last 3 letters of my name should actually be pronounced "cove" not "cow". ;)

I agree with the kow. Moo.

Yep, people should have the right to be as ugly on the inside as they want to be. Just as long as they don't let it harm anyone.

Then, are groups like the KKK suppressed legally, like there are laws against them?

Uhm, where have you guys been? This is Germany we're talking about. Anything remotely related to National Socialism has been outlawed since the end of World War 2.

Heck, most European countries have laws that forbid the practice or display of anything related to National Socialism, and that goes double for the nation that actually produced those loonies. Heck, if Germany ever rescinded those laws, the nearby countries would probably freak out and invade out of pure paranoia. People are still really freaked out and upset about everything related to that war.

To this day, there are European and Asian countries that complain bitterly that Japan and Germany are allowed to have a military at all. Don't be surprised by this.

As if that's not enough, I believe most of the former Soviet countries banned the Communist party in a manner similar to the way much of Europe banned the National Socialist party.

We're so dedicated to freedom of speech that we allow our concept of diversity to include those who are out-and-out evil. Not all nations are similarly so permissive.
