It seems so.
I just see no reason for a hdin to play defensively. There's no telestomping, to be sure, but to go far enough away for a Widow? ;\ I mean what's stopping a paladin from desynching in tight circles or drive by hammering? Leap? Lol. ;x
EDIT:
Okay, I saw this duel:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duQ1BvTUJSs To me, this paladin played oddly. He desynched straight into the BvC often, which got him Whirled. Other times he charged straight into a line of Guided Arrows he should have known would be there. And even when he played defensively he often stayed on Smash's mini map so he could accurately fire Guided Arrow. I thought he distanced himself too much. Just what is he afraid of? Whirlwind is a strictly decent attack against high dr and max block, both of which a good hdin has.
Then I saw this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHUlwG4YJxE I thought this guy played a lot better. When he backed off and the BvC pulled out Widow, he got entirely off the screen. Also, during the transition from onscreen to offscreen, he made a far more rapid approach to try and catch the BvC unprepared. When on screen he was more aggressive and (of what I saw) only gave the BvC one chance to get a big string of Widows while he was on screen. He didn't win, but I thought he played much more appropriately.
If what I read was right, Smash is one of the better BvCs, and from what I saw his whirls were very good against the desynch he faced. I don't know if those are widely known hammerdins or not, but I'll acknowledge that Widow is a solid weapon to use. I still think that this duel is a good deal in the Hdin's favor, but I'll concede that it's possible to win.
EDIT2:
I'm not trying to be stubborn or anything. This is honestly something I don't quite understand and am trying to learn about. Just so neither of you take it the wrong way.
