Need help with my MF sorc

Hi everyone,

So I started out again about two weeks ago with a summoner which turned out pretty good, but way too slow for mfing and since I got tired of my stupid skellies (without enigma they won't do much good) I thought I'd make a MF sorc (sorc and necro are the only chars for me ) to get my wealth up and running ASAP. Chose a FO/FB sorc since they are pretty easy to make and are said to deal decent damage. Turns out I'm either doing something wrong or she's just not strong enough. Killing hell meph for example takes ages and I have to use ~6 mana pots when fireballing him down using the moat trick of course (I have no chance face to face).
I guess what I'm trying to say is that she pretty much s*cks at the moment I was hoping maybe you guys could give me a hint on what to improve / change.

Skills:
Frozen Orb and Ice Bolt Maxed
Firebolt and Fireball Maxed
1 Warmth
1 Teleport
1 Static

Equipment:
Shako (P amy)
Occy
Silkweave
Vipermagi (was using it but it was eth and is now broken)
Nightsmoke
Lidless
Magefists
Eye of the etlich
2x +str rings (I'm aiming for a spirit as soon as I get a monarch to drop)

My resistance to all is terrible (-19), but I don't know what to switch besides the shield to improve it and keep my +skills up).

Dmg:
FO -> ~550-570
FB -> ~2k

Any ideas?

Dont max ice bolt. at level 20 its only a 20% boost, and you should have another synergy for fireball instead. you cant forget to put points into your masteries. for cold mastery, only put enough points to -100%, and you want to max fire mastery.

kelpie snare and some defensive clothes to merc (shafstop, rockstopper etc) and kill meph with static + orb. you have some nice items already. stealth armor until you find something better, thats all.

With or without +skills?

Well I've already maxed ice bolt. I've put one point so far in cold mastery and 1 in fire. My sorc is lvl 77 and I currently have no skill points left.

I'm planning on using insight for him to eliminate my mana problem so that pretty much rules out the weapon. Atm, he has griswolds armor (didn't have anything else) and Tal's helm which I think's pretty good considering the leech. The rockstopper would pretty much rule out the only leech he has. Maybe a gaze? Gotta get him a shaftstop though.

-100 if you want to play all around. -150 if you want baaling alot. -175 if you want mephing alot

Alright, -175 it is.

Another thing.

Funny because I red two guides of etf's because I was unsure which way to go and both said to max ice bolt. Why is it that they're suggesting right the opposite?

So I invest my points from now on in fire mastery as soon as I hit -175 with cold?

your sorc is already good so i think you know what you are doing theres no exact formula whats the best. as you play you find out what skill you like, what skill needs improvement etc. for example, if i want to kill mephy alot, say most of my gameplay, i will for sure alocate enough points to achieve -175 cold resist to be more effective. im talking too much, maybe the first sentence was enough

Thanks for the input Arek I guess you're right. Any idea on what else to cover during MF runs? I like andy, but those damn Afflicted are just eating away my hp since my res is in the craper.

Oh, and what should I do to fix my res in your opinion?

I've put some thought into it and I think I wanna redo my sorc because I'm not satisfied with her. One of the reasons is that I screwed up the choice between cold mastery and ice bolt. I didn't check it out and ended up maxing ice bolt as I'm used to maxing out synergies.
My favorite sorc has always been light, but I'm not sure if she'll be successful without uber twinked gear. Basically, what I would start with is what my cold sorc is currently using.

That is:
Shako (P amy)
Occy
Silkweave
Ormus blaze (waiting for that Vipermagi and later on CoH)
Nightsmoke
Lidless (Spirit as soon as that monarch drops)
Magefists
Eye of the etlich
2x +str rings

Why I'm asking is because to me a light sorc is a char that can evolve into a all killing machine with the right equipment while cold and fire sorc's are limited by unbreakable immunities. I'd start out using her for MF'ing to get my wealth up and then to do everything else. MFing,keyrunning,rushing etc. You know the drill. Or should I maybe choose a blizz sorc?

What do you guys think?

I could use a few words from you guys. I'm CS'ing atm with my sorc, but soon I'll be at that point when I need to chose which way to go. So, what you think?

My cold sorc is working out right now, although I haven't tried keying with it. Still I do 8k with it and once I have a CTA she won't die very much. I think it's best to start with a blizz sorc or hdin and then once you can afford griffs/infinity/etc move onto the lightning sorc.

Haven't made a fb/orb sorc but I'd assume full tals is what most people use for it. Also keep in mind that firebolt adds more to fireball than mastery IIRC. I'd max CM and FO then fireball/meteor/firebolt/FM.

I'd go blizz =/

I think I'll actually go blizz Had one some time ago and I was really happy with her accept all those immunes. That's what I like about lightning, but then again it requires wealth. Oh well, I'll go for blizz and then start a light sorc when I'm richer. So, I'll make a pure blizz sorc. So in what order should I max all the skills?
