Also... melianor's argument is taking into account a monster with zero resistance. As monster resistance goes up, the benefit of having -% resist scales up with it. even with tals set its probably the best idea to facet all your gear (assuming you still want the perfect setup). Except maybe UM rune in your shield. So you get facet helm/armor/wand = -15% resist. That added to tals bonus means you get -30% to enemy fire resist. This means double the normal damage to a monster with 70% fire resist. Triple normal damage to a monster with 85% fire resist.

Reaching lvl99 will be painful but it is possible. Talking personal experience here! :D

Just keep in mind that resistance make alot of difference as soon as they are applied, so indeed the damage will be pratically equal and should bother with other properties on your gear, like you already mentioned. Good luck with getting close to lvl99! Be prepared for some endless endless Diabloruns (yes not Baal...) :D
Diaruns instead of baalruns? You mean till like lvl 94-94 or all the way? (my highest char in 1.10 is a 92 hammerdin who used to do dia or baal in full games, only had 5% anni though and I'm trying to trade one with 10%). Also have to get me some of them rbf jewels it seems. Again thanks for all the input

perhaps I mis-understood. I read it that you think we should not factor in skillers at all as it will not make a difference. I believe its important to factor them in if they do make any difference if we are trying to establish what is the best gear for the perfect meteorb....

If we are in agreement then cool, (just a misunderstanind) but I want my degree posted soon (my parents will be so proud).

ps i dont think you can consider perfect meteorb gear without having stormshield in the mix. If you agree then skip :)

Stormshield allows the meteorb to play a different style. Vs alot of enemy in 8 player games with ss you can teleport into (on the edge really) packs getting your merc into the action faster. If he is well equiped (eg with reapers to decrep em and hitting 9 frames attack) he will be inflicting damage fast and stunning enemy. During this time my meteor will be on route (if i think they will survive 2 fireballs which most dont) while I soften up with a couple of statics then begin the fireballs to stun - by the time the meteor lands im off into the next pack to repeat. Done at high speed you can really tear up enemy.

Fire immunes i just swap to orb/static and if fire and cold immune ill static and let merc finish (maybe some TK if hes struggling) while I clean up another mob.

Multiple immunes calls for fireballs to the cold immunes between orbs directed at the fire immues etc. With some praccy you can work the angles and hurd the little sheep into packs to be decimated (your merc is your sheepdog here)

With SS you can play alot more agressive and therefore the killing speed goes way up (make sure you hit a good fhr frame though but treks and a few fhr sc's will do the trick).

Need to be fast on the keys ( i use a nostromo speedpad for 1 button spell spaming but hey).

Any other shield and you will be spending more time sucking reds than killing.....

@Triforce: Til lvl94-96 you will be fine with 8p Baalruns, though the closer you get to lvl99 the harder it will be, meaning less and at last VERY little XP!

If you continue with 8p games past lvl 96 you will need to kill Baal on your own to get ANY decent XP.
After that its straight Diaruns. Why? Speed, speed, speed. You are 10 times faster teleporting to the middle of CS from the River WP, than teleporting down to the Throneroom. Plus all you need to do is open all seals and ONLY kill the 3 bosses that guard the seal. AS soon as all seals are open and the 3 bosses are dead, anything else left will die instantly and Diablo will spawn. Killing him will be no big deal than. But here again you will need 8p games and you will need to kill Diablo alone out of party to get ANY valueable XP, otherwise it will take you 2-3 months to get from lvl97-99. Anything before that can be done quite fast.

When we ran for lvl99 we spent 1 month to get from lvl1 to 96 and another month to get from 96 to 99! Crazy, really crazy.

@sorc4ever, k you just graduated in Sorceress skill-math with an A+.
You can now call yourself Matriarch phil. math. [charname] ;)

I like to SHAEL my Tal armor and mask. With a few FHR scs you can easily reach 7 and 6 frame breakpoint then

Always have used a stormshield wit self-found -req,res,dext jewel but I just traded it away and I heard a lot of people on this forum say; you're a sorc, you must let your merc tank and all, but now I played with a mosers for a few days and my playing style needs a storm yes :) Would you say it's worth shaeling it though to get a faster block rate?

If you can make up the +2 skill difference with charms and are looking for a prime casting rate, there is always Suicide Branch with an impressive 50% FCR, +10% maximum mana, +40 HP, all resists +10, and +1 ALL skills (not just necro). I'm surprise I don't see more mid level sorcs toting this one around with a good shield.

True, but lvl 61 isn't that hard to achieve and wizzy's bigger res and mana are better than +1 to skills IMO, otherwise you can also say by losing 10% fcr you can wear hoto or escuta's.

Do we already have a 7 page stickied thread about tals? :D

Tals is great if it is what you want and what you can afford.

If you are rich, picking your own gear can be better, you may have less magic find though, and some people do not like that, but the returns you get from magic find isnt very good.

Faster runs is better than magicfind 100% of the time.

I made this char in single player, tals is alright, but not the best in and of itself, it needs some more FHR and FCR to be useful :)

Dont try to argue these points here, it was already done in the other thread.
