Need Help Understanding Crafting

I've looked at all the math but I can't find how much of what items you are supposed to put into the cube?

Also in places it says you can kind of control the properties that you get when crafting? What does this mean?

I am a crafting noob.

You put one of each listed item.

In terms of controlling, i think it means the 4 different types, each with specific mods that always appear.

so if I want to make a ring. . .

Do I just put in 4 rings with the qualities I want to get out of them? No runes, jewels or gems?

For example, you want a caster amulet.

In the cube, place on of each: 1x Magic Amulet, 1x Jewel, 1x Perfect Amethyst, and 1x Ral Rune. Transmute and you have a crafted amulet with certain fixed mods ((5-10)% Faster Cast Rate, Regenerate Mana (4-10)%, + (10-20) To Mana ).

Re: Need Help Understanding Crafting

Well I have read that, but it never did say 1 of each item.

So to sum up the recipe for crafting is.

Rune + PGem + Jewel + Magic Item ?

1. Does a better rune yield better results?

2. I'm pretty sure better items yield better results?

3. I was thinking you could craft things other than "Hit Power Items | Blood Items | Caster Items | Safety Items" stuff? Are those the only recipes or can you change them?

4. So would I follow a recipe for one of the above recipes or use a different one to have a chance of getting the following item I've found in the statistics forum.

1. No, if, for example, the blood recipe says you need a nef for gloves, then you need a nef for gloves, better runes will not work with gloves in the blood recipe

2.better items (legendary mallet instead of war hammer) will yield better items..., yes
but you also have a point: higher ilvl/qlvl/bla, will yield more possibilities for the appearing mods on the crafted item

3. Arreat summit is pretty much d2 law..., that's all there is (there are exceptions, but those are, I think, not in the crafts area...

4. this item is a belt, that has been crafted using the blood recipe for belts:
tal rune+PRuby+any jewel(yes, any, it doesn't mean squat, which one you pick, except you lose that one to the crafting)+mesh belt
