Need Advice: Hammerdin Merc

Hey I'm making a hammerdin to MF (first character). Was wondering what would be a bit better: A2 Defiance Merc or A2 Holy Freeze Merc.

I'm playing hardcore so the main issue is survivability. I figure the HF merc will stay alive longer, but if i pick defiance i'll stay alive longer...

Help would would be appreciated much!

To slow down the monsters? There really isn't a benifit from the defiance merc on a hdin. Act 1 mercs stay away from IM also. If you don't want to chug mana pots use the act 2 merc with insight, if you don't mind it stick with the act 1 merc.
