National Guard a bummer

4 guard units called up

This is a real bummer. My masonic coach is in the 116th Cavalry. And I was supposed to get started on Wednesday working with him :(

So there goes the argument I don't personally know anybody over there :p

Silly Damascus, they'll never send women, children, the elderly, the infirm, or the openly *** to Iraq.

Sheesh, take off the tin foil hat already

There isn't going to be a draft unless we are invaded by China. Since they have nukes, that's not going to happen. Sheesh.

Who calls them?

What do they call them?

Do they have to pay long distance charges for calling them?

Oh! you mean for the draft!

Is it feasibly possible to call everyone in the country?

If so, where do we train them?

Who produces the supplies the Army needs?

Who do anti war protesters protest to?

We lock our houses before leaving since only draft dodgers will be left?

We trade in the second Bush for a new 2004 model, but I think we'll change companies from crappy American car company A (Republolet) to crappy American car company B (Democral Motors).

We'll still have to get a tuneup every couple years.

Perhaps a draft is what America needs ... this time with no deferments for the privleged.

Somehow I think that if such a draft were instituted, then our society (and congress) would think twice before committing our young men and women to die for some politician's dream in a war in some far away foreign land

It's all to easy to be a warmonger when it's not your *** (or your son's or daughter's life) on the line.

Hey that's not very fair. If memory serves I believe there is precisely one member of Congress right now who has a child in the military.

I think what America needs is to make a Constitutional Amendment barring any form of the draft. Any war that doesn't have enough volunteers can't be that popular, now can it. And if America is attacked and people don't defend it, then the occupiers must be better than the government's become.

I see absolutely zero good reason to have a draft. Call me a hippie if you must.

See now, my father and I have this theory: instead of sending all of our testosterone-filled 18 year old boys to get their arms and legs blown off, let's make 35 the *minimum* age for being drafted. Then we'll *really* see how much popular enthusiasm there is for the adventures we undertake.

Then again me 'n Pa have all sorts of cockamamie theories about things. ;)

I'll be holding "An'yee's special training camp on how to be homosexual and avoid the draft."

That'll settle the "choice or genetics" debate really quick. Either that or repeal don't ask, don't tell at a rapid rate.
