N00b DC question

I'd like to confront DC with my pally, but obviously hes not that easy to find. I do see posts with .xx server is hot or whatever.

How do you find the IP of the server your on?

If I know that DC is on server 10.1.1.xxxx can I connect to that server directly? How so?

Tell you the poor mans way.
Make a Game
Minimize D2
Run your Dos Command Promp
Type Netstat -n
Enter
Look for the IP with the port number :4000 at the end.
The last digits .xxx is what server u are on.

Is there a way to select which server you connect to? I know with a game like CS I can use an IP to connect directly, can I with D2?
