    My Wind Druid

Hey all, I just thought I would tell about my experiece so far with my new windy. I had heard of how powerful these guys were at high levels, so I decided to see for myself.

The first 30 levels were an exercise in patience. I used a hat with +3 molten boulder for quite awhile. Up to act 4 actually. I started using tornado's at level 24. Wow those things are hard to aim! I made it past big D, and forced my way through act 5 up to the Frigid Highlands WP. I then set the game to P8 and did shenk and eldritch until I hit level 30.

I swapped out Stealth armor and my stupid boulder hat for a better rare hat with +1 druid skills and +1 hurricane and a vipermagi. Added frostburns also.

I tore through the rest of normal. It was a joke. I did a few baal runs, then went into NM. NM was also a joke. I am level 51 right now standing outside NM Ancients Way. I took a break to play a few other characters, but I will be back to this project soon.

I settled on this gear for right now, mostly for lack of anything better.

    Jalals Mane
    Vipermagi
    Suicide Branch/ Rhyme shield
    Glooms Trap
    Frostburns
    Ravenfrost/Dwarfstar
    Tgods
    +2 elemental skills ammy
    Silkweaves

This is the best gear I have right now. What would you guys recommend that I look for? Also, how to deal with immunities in hell? I am not having any problems right now, but hell is usually the brick wall.

    PI/CI isn't that common.
try and find a reapers for your merc. or just use a rogue fire arrower.

If you plan on running NM Meph keep your eyes out for an Earthshaker Battle Hammer. It has +3 Elemental skills. Not sure what the Suicide Branch does, but if you going for +skills I think that Earthshaker would be hard to beat. My level ** cattle.net wind druid used it.

I'd keep the Suicide Branch...The extra mana is nice and the faster cast rate is very nice. +skills instead of +elemental will also boost Oak Sage/Grizzly if you use that.

Good call on the earthshaker. I will have to check and see if I have one.

The Suicide Branch has 50% FCR, 10% max mana, +10 resist all and +1 skills.

I do not plan on running anything with this character until hell. Maybe hell chaos sanctuary/RoF or baal runs. I have sorcs that run meph for me.

not ideal for a windy but the +2 skills and +10 stats are worthy i think. if you can make up the +skills elsewhere then you could even go wizardspike for some very fast tornados. make sure your mana pool is up to it though.
he completed hell a while ago and is now clvl91 and is my hell meph runner.
aiming those tornados can be a problem. i found that when they go off at right angles to where you are aiming, stop attacking. move back a little and try again. sometimes this still doesnt work. so press the "stand still" button, whichever you have it set on, and you can then aim them where you want them to go. after a while it is easy.
as corax said you wont find many that are immune to both your attacks. my fire rogue polished those off no trouble. dune

If you find a Wizardspike use it, can't get better than that except a HotO.

I used Wizardspike until some weeks ago when I finally manage to make a HotO.

Look out for a Harly aswell beats the crap out of Jalal's mane IMO

My blizz sorc just got GUL from forge, so I am halfway to a hoto. I do not have wizspike right now. The only reason I see for switching to Shako is the mf. I have characters whose job it is to MF right now. The jalals at least gives me 30% resists.

I only encountered a couple PICI monsters when I took my wind druid through hell, and I found it was mostly ok to ignore them. If you put a point in summon grizzly, you can usually park enemies by getting the bear to lag behind you for a long time (hitting the enemy), then suddenly jump up to you, leaving the enemy with nothing to target. I'd also suggest that you either get a wand of lower resist or turn down the players setting when you're going anywhere involving ghosts (PI, ~80% cold resist)--fighting them is a slow but steady process. I think that pretty much covers the annoying enemies in hell. Just keep your cyclone armor up, and you should be fine.

Yeah, fcr is very important, resists not so much. Have a lot of mana! It is all pretty easy up until about Act V, where unless you have real godly gear killing speed just slows down.

If you're not above charity, you can check the stickied giveaway thread. I haven't looked, but I'm certain at least one person will have a Wizardspike or several to give away. I've got a few spares myself, if you need one.

Hoto = Heart Of The Oak (a runeword)
Hoto can only be put in 4 socketed staves or maces. In this case the only 1handed mace that can achieve 4 sockets is a flail.

    Hear Of The Oak
    Ko+Vex+Pul+Thul
    4 Socket Staves/Maces
    +3 To All Skills
    +40% Faster Cast Rate
    +75% Damage To Demons
+100 To Attack Rating Against Demons
Adds 3-14 Cold Damage, 3 sec. Duration (Normal)
    7% Mana Stolen Per Hit
    +10 To Dexterity
    Replenish Life +20
    Increase Maximum Mana 15%
    All Resistances +30-40 (varies)
Level 4 Oak Sage (25 Charges)
    Level 14 Raven (60 Charges)
    +50% Damage To Undead

As you can see its got some monster mods, but also requires some pretty high runes. Of course on cattle.net I had at one time 4 of these suckers (runes have been duped so bad and now ists are currency, its like 6 ists for an enigma lol)

No connection as GodofWar gives us the HoTO readout.

"Gul" refers to the Gul rune needed to create the HoTO runeword. Pretty rare for the most part.

"Gull" refers to the unique dagger weapon that has a very large +Magic Find modifier on it where people use this weapon "on switch" ... so, when the monster/boss you are fighting is ready to die you hit the weapon switch button to switch to this Gull dagger and when the kill is made the extra +Magic Find is added potentially making a better drop.

Heh, I finished NM, and went into hell at level 67. I found 2 CI/PI bosses before the Den. Maybe I am just lucky like that. I just bypassed them. Both were zombie types. No problems so far. I rescued cain and stopped after I found the Black Marsh WP.

Gul isn't needed for Heart of the Oak. I think 'halfway to' was a reference to the fact that two Gul runes can be cubed into a Vex rune, which is part of the runeword.
