My Two Cents: Angel Knight and Jester

Here are the two classes that in one form or another I believe we will see as the final two remaining slots.

The Angel Knight
What is an "Angel Knight", you might ask? My idea for it would be a former angel that followed Tyrael in defying Heaven's orders and directly interfering in the affairs of the mortals. In order to do so these Heavenly beings have cut off their wings, robbing them of much of their former power but allowing them to live in the mortal realm of Sanctuary (no floating around and waiting for humans to come and do their dirty work; the angel knights get down and get gritty). In playstyle they would resemble the Paladin of D2, with a mixture of melee combat and holy powers, but would have a more compelling backstory. I can see these guys having a bit of an arrogant twinge, too, and being colored by the fact that the humans of Sanctuary eye them with suspicion, seeing them as little better than other "fallen" angels.

My main reason for thinking this is because Blizzard has an ongoing track record of bringing in veiled Christian imagery into their games, and there is still a spot left for a support class, and I can't really come up with a better healer that would fit into the Diablo universe (the people of Sanctuary don't really seem to have many healers around, outside of the occasional witch or herbalist). Also, all the Tyrael artwork that Blizzard has put out smells like foreshadowing.

The Jester
I imagine this class would be similar to Batman's Joker, except fighting on our side. Going along with the theme could be special types of wind-up bombs, crazy killer puppets, and a whole bag of traps and tricks. So why the Jester? First, if my memory serves me right there is a reference to a Jester class way back in Diablo I (Jester's Hat, or something). Also, every Diablo game seems to have some sort of roguish, stealthy character in it, like the Assassin and the Rogue, and we haven't really seen one like that revealed yet in D3. The only thing that counts against the Joker class would be that if it has all these puppet and bomb attacks it could turn out a bit too much like the Witch Doctor. Even has a bit of the same wily streak to boot. I'd like to see a Jester class to be sure because I bet it would be pretty interesting to see where Blizzard takes it, but I'm less sure about this one than I am about the Angel Knight.

I didn't really get The Jester, and from what I did understand it doesn't fit very well to D3. But maybe with some effort put into it it can be better.

The Angel Knight is an idea brought up many times, but sounded for the first time for me a real good one. I would change his name, though, to The Fallen. This can really have a good background, personality and atmosphere to the character.

the jester is *** but i like the Angel knight but instead of being an angel (i do´nt think the blizzies will have an angel class) he is a dude(human) that´s been following Tyrael and serving him as his guardiann and servant but he was sent to help kill Diablo but he failed and sacrificed himself so that the other heroes could stop him. Tyrael has revived him now 20 years later to serve his cause agian but not as a slave or a simple servant but as a friend.

The Fallen won't work. Don't you remember those little red guys in Diablo 3? They're called the Fallen. And I don't think an angel is necessarily human; they don't even have bodies. Only human classes in Diablo.

Jester, I agree just doesn't fit with the Diablo universe. When I think of the Jester I think of Harley Quinn and the Joker. See, doesn't work.

I'll say this again as I have said it on a few threads already. We already have two spellcasters and one melee fighter. There will be a character that focuses primarily on range and a character that wields a shield and wears heavy armor. They will both be human. Your Angel Knight could fit that last category, but I don't think Blizzard is really looking to make angels be a playable class.

A) I know. Fallen is a problem, however, that name fits the char perfectly.
B) You can say it how many time you want but: You don't know that for sure & It's still fun making up classes. What, if we make a typical D&D class then Blizz will offer us a job? No, it's just for the kicks.
C) The Angel Knight fits this category perfectly, and no, he's NOT an Angel. Blizz SAID that all chars are human. That's why we get around this and make him a Fallen Angel- Cast away from the High Heaven and became a mortal, with Holy (Angel-like) powers.

I had the idea of the scoundrel, if I could draw well enough I would probably go really indepth like the arcane warrior, that would be the rogue/ sneaky type.

Yea, its still fun making up classes, but if they don't have a knight type of guy than it means there won't be any heavy armor in the game and not much use for shields either.

Alright, I get what you mean now. The Fallen Angel ideal just might work, but it still needs a new name.

Well, the barb can cover the shield and heavy armor roles, though I admit not to the extent that would satisfy paladin/shield fans. With the angel idea, they seem not quite human no matter what spin gets put on it so it's not fair to all the other human classes. I don't think any class should start out disgraced (losing angel's wings).

I like the Jester idea quite abit. True, we already have 2 mages so it's unlikely for now. I think the WD is already the comic relief of the game too, so more comedy would be overkill. The jester has all sorts of potential nonetheless: illusions, dexterity tasks like throwing, acrobatics, some fire magic, and so on. A lot of the armor and melee weapons in the game don't make much sense on a jester though. At least he has the bard thing going on that some people want.
