    My try at d2 art

i painted this picture for an art contest. the theme was "master and servant". in my pic, i have a necromancer, who summons a rather gigantic undead golem (who reminds me alot of the blood golem. very suspicious. hehe.)

well, im sure all of u have read the quote by C. Vincent Metzen in the diablo manual, it ends like this:

"Despite this strength and knowledge earned, I have paid a heavy toll,
Never should've traded power for my own immortal soul."

    :D

so, it gave me the idea for my concept:
a necromancer that summons the undead, but the more he summons, the more he becomes part of the undead, and lose what is left of his humanity. in the pic, this can be seen by the his undead flesh leg and the bone sticking out of his one arm.
he becomes part of death, and thus, death is fast becoming his master, even though he thinks he is the master over the undead. the owl in the background symbolizes death.

yeah, the 1st time i try to actually paint a background. or enter an art contest for that matter.

That's actually quite cool! That's one huge Golem! Or perhaps a very small Necromancer. Either way, he looks very tortured.

eh? already a thread? where? if u mean the concept art for diablo 3, then, this has nothing to do with that, this is a pic i did for a contest which was inspired by diablo 2. ;)

very nice, the thing reminds me of Raistlin on Dragonlance, selling his soul (and health ) for power hehe.

I'm interested to know if you made it by hand or using any software. Maybe hand the drawn and soft the color?

    thx guys! :D

i drew the hand and necromancer with a pencil, scan, then coloured it using photoshop. the background i completely painted with photoshop. those clouds were really tricky, had to redo them completely.
