I think you guys have hit on it zarfen and Davio, there are so many amulets and rings in the game competing to be boss drops. I think the combined chances of finding a unique ring or amulet must keep increasing with higher MF, at the slight expense of set jewelry. I actually played around with the drop calc some more, and found that 284% MF is the optimum setting for ALL SET JEWELRY. Something to keep in mind if you are running for one of them, although the decrease beyond this point is too slight to be noticeable.

edit: It also looks like /players 5 is the way to go with running Andy, gives 1:1078 odds for Tal's amulet.

I can confirm reading <somewhere around here, from a fairly reputable forumite> that increasing MF beyond a certain point will indeed lower your chances to find set items. And it is because unique items have a higher drop percentage with the higher MF, and that cuts into the chances for set items (a little).

... didn't know the number 284 was the cut-off, but I'll take dryzalizer's word for it.

I believe it's 266 (at least it is for Meph). I'm guessing that there's a small amount of variation from target to target though.

...and the overall difference between 266 and 366 is really quite minimal. Even if you're trying to find a specific set item, I think the current rule of thumb is still best: "more MF is better, as long as it doesn't affect your killspeed."

OP I was like you before, I never find anything, the best is usually just pul level items. I also got crap sin torches from the first 3 ubers. Then in 1 week I found 2 maras, a 26 and a 28. Its just probability, you could get a bunch of perf uniques worth 5 HRs in one day or you could go 3 months of getting nothing.

I do my MF runs alone btw, i tried joining a 5 player game and Andy is like a rock, i can eventually kill her but she takes a while

I once found eth 15/15 treks @ Meph's and I was in shock! Instantly grabbed my printed priceguide, 3 hr!

Traded them in for Ber-Ohm-Ohm.

You just have to remember: 2 puls are um, 3 ums are ist, 2 ists are hr, so it takes just 12 puls to get a hr! ^^

The important thing about MF-ing is keeping it interesting/fun. If I run Meph and he doesn't drop anything, I just waste every monster in Durance 3 out of revenge. Council has good drop odds too!

Yes, Travincal is the hardest part of the game, and also the most lucrative goldfind wise as well as magic find.

That's about as untrue as can be. Items do not drop based on character level, they drop based solely on Area level, with alvl 85 being the highest where every item can drop.

That maybe true, but when I was level 83, I did hundreds of runs and there was nothing even close to good, I barely raised one pul. I did leveling all day yesterday and all of a sudden in 20 runs I got HoZ and some other items i didn`t get before (and my MF is no more than 100%).

To me this confirms what some of the other posters have been tryint to tell you - your killing speed is adversly affected by your excessive MF, bro.

What are your main skillz and damage?

You can still kill really fast with a lot of mf.I have between 400-450 mf on my main gear(not on switch) and this is with a low wt,a low gheed and no mf charms. With a geared up sorc. you can hit around 600(with around 800 on switch)

Mf runs are just elusive as people said.While meph and andy tend to drop something good every 10-50 rounds,pindle for example doesn't drop anything for 500 runs and then he drops something that will make you not only forgive him,but also love him.

Well, if you MFing in a 1 player game, yes. You can kill quickly naked in a 1 player game. I spend alot of time killing bosses/super uniques and roaming alvl85 places in 5+ player games. Usually, 600 MF doesn't leave you with enough FCR, FHR, resists, +skillz, life, block, etc. to not get your face pwned every corner you turn. I suppose that the diff between me and the "lol I can't tele in WSK cause souls one ht me lol, but I have MF!" guys.

I can kill in players 1-3 easy. Most of the servers on EuScL atm are that sort of servers.The only exceptions are the rare baalrun servers where most of the time somebody already did pindle/andariel/meph....

I can also kill in the players 3-5 servers just that it takes a bit more(ofc ) and as i said i seem not to be able to find any servers like that.

I am a cold sorc so i have never thought of doing wsk/baal alone due to imunities so i don't see any reason to tele in wsk.I can do andarieal/meph/pindle/ancient tunnels/summoner easy and withouht dying or losing time..On the other hand i have been playing this game since 2001 and have gotten used to monster and teleing.
