My potion gnome.

My potion gnome.

I have a most peculiar problem. It is really only a minor annoyance, but it puzzles me most severely.

My copy of the Atma single player muling application is infested by a potion gnome.

It is related car-key gnomes, sock goblins and all the other gnomes and gremlins whose only joy in this life seems to be displacing your belongings in various comical fashions.

My specific gnome displaces potions. He or she is very predictable. (s)he always strikes at the belts of my characters like the larcenous Lord De Seis used to do in the days of old betwixt slaying foolhardy barbarians with his Iron Maiden curse. This gnome does, however, not do away with said potions but instead s(he) just displaces them to one of my many Atma stashes where I will find them again. Often by sheer coincidence after the potions had long since been replaced.

I am most terribly mystified as you can guess.

aww potion gnomes, its good to hear they are still enjoying themselves. I haven't gone to visit them in a while!!

the only thing i can think of personally is that you take off your characters belt in atma. when you take off the belt all the potions(beyond one row) are released into the wild

I have seen that happen to..potions showing up in different stashes..extremely odd, I am thinking Lord De Seis sold the ones he stole on the black market, and then the person (or thing) decided to hide them in my item coffers..

At first I was inclined to think as you do as I have indeed witnessed this phenomenon. This day, however my potions were mysteriously dislocated even though there was no exchange between the affected character and any of my stashes.

I was merely checking whether the affected character had enough empty inventory space to do a feasible Magic Find run.

Are you changing belts? If so, that's your answer. When an equipped belt full of potions is removed from a character in ATMA, the potions are moved to the first open stash file ATMA can find.

If you read the above post carefully I actually said that I did not touch anything.

I merely checked the character in Atma to see what stuff he was carrying around.

I know the belt issue quite well already, but this does indeed puzzle me.

Ah, I just skimmed the replies and missed that. My mistake. Sorry.

I think the problem here is that America's youth has discovered it is possible to get intoxicated from the potions so readily available in Diablo2. Cyber-addicts have hacked into ATMA, and have begun to steal from our characters in order to support their habits. Young males being as they are, I wouldn't be surprised if one or two Amazons has been inappropriately groped during one of these incidents. The answer to this social dilemma is to never pick up a potion again, and to ensure none are left where the ruthless Drug Lord de Seis can snatch them up and redistribute them.

A valid theory, if it weren't from the fact that the potions somehow always turn up again, in pristine condition I might add.

I blame this on B.net dupers.

In a similar vein, i'd keep a very close eye on The Iron Jang Bong if it's in your stash.

The jang bong has become a rather popular item since the influx of potions that are being bought of the black market. I say, if you have one now is the time to get something good for it, unless you are using it...for other reasons.
