My pally getting his *** kicked in nm act4

I have a lvl62 Hamerdin and he's getting ***** in Plains of Despair... (NM)

You know the red lightning ghosts that are really fast?? Well, they hurt quite alot.

I know my items are pure crap, things you leetxors wouldnt feed a starting char, but it's all I can get my hands on for now... So what can I do?

a: run and try to go river of flames ASAP (skip izual for now)
b: go make exp somewhere and come higher lvl
c: go make runs somewhere and get better stuff

Even tho I have no idea where I could set out to do runs, as meph is giving me a pretty rough time...

Max out your lightning resists and if you don;t have gear for that, use Salvation (provided you have at least a point in that). The trick to surviving gloams is a combination of

    1) max lightning resist
    2) lightning absorb
    3) magic damage reduction

You could also try rerolling the map. Just make any normal game and it will reset the map.

you'd be surprised what some of the people here use. I have a zealot in hell using only gear i've found - i do trade amongst my chars, but he's the highest i have, so anything good comes from him now. also, some people in this forum play untwinked, even HC, so you shouldn't assume that they live only due to godly gear. So...questions then are: what are your gear? some members might be able to suggest easy to find items, or socket combinations that might help, etc. what are your char's stats? maybe there is something that needs to be looked at?

another thing is that if you are having too many problems, go back and farm NM meph- he can drop some decent gear and might drop things to help you. I had to farm him for a bit when I started another zealot last year, and it paid off.

edit: missed the part about meph giving you problems, but if it's at all possible, I'd say try a few runs- it took me a while to be able to handle it well too- have you reduced the players settings for running meph (if using players command)?

How about a list of your stats (i.e. Str, dex, vit, nrg, resists)?

Nope. I did not add that in ATMA ... not a bad idea though.

Wow, you do need some gear. I have a lot of sympathy because I have been there... had the same trouble.

First, for a hammerdin, some fast cast would help a lot. Getting your hammers off faster will mean you take less hits. And of course, what everyone else has already said... you need resists bad.

The good news is, you should be able to get your gear better yourself. First, Find yourself a 4 socket gothic plate somewhere in NM, and socket it with 4 p Topazes. If you don't have 4 topazes, run act1 nm on players 8 to collect gems. Run the Countess for runes while you're at it.... you may be surprised what you will turn up. At the very least you will be able to make a 'Lore' helm (Ort + Sol) which has +1 skills and 30% light res.
Check the runewords page for more useful runewords that are easy to make. You might consider a 'Stealth' armour, and a 'Rhyme' shield. If you can, upgrade the steel clash, and consider adding a p. diamond (using socketing quest) for more resists.

Once you've got the MF armour, go back and shop norm anya for some MF boots and gloves, then run norm baal for uniques and rares. You should gamble the money you get from selling items to get rings, perhaps a better ammy. You should be able to build some decent equipment up this way. You can also shop Akara, Drognan, and others for magic scepters that will improve your hammers more. If you can get up to about 250% MF, it will make a huge difference in the drops from Baal.

This takes some time, but it is worth it.

Edit: Find your merc an ethereal magic pike or better an ethereal lance.... use the cube recipies with gems to get sockets (for Amn - Shael) and a couple of decent mods.... It will help him a lot.

First of all, go socket your steelclash with a diamond (normal act 5 quest). Go gamble for rings, ideally with resist all but focus on lightning resist. If you can spare the time, craft caster rings for 10% faster cast and lightning resist/mana/life. 20% fast cast makes an obvious difference for your hammers. Also, some mana per kill would make a big difference since you don't have much mana anyway.

I also recommend doing countess runs. The runes can be used for upgrading your steelclash etc and the gold used for gambling. There are also no real elemental monsters there so your low resists wouldn't matter. Normal cows can yield a lot of gems as well for crafting.

At lvl 62, even untwinked, you can get much better gear than that like everyone else said.

I would suggest forgetting about mf for the moment unless you are actually farming meph for items.

As for your merc, get him an except weapon with leech. Just go shopping until you find one. Alternatively, give him a blood crafted amour or helm asnd just focus on the highest damage weapon you have for him.
