    my mercs gear..

    today i did pit in hell for the first time ever.. i ran about 10 times and my MF sorc found some awesome items.. im using 3 of em in my defensive merc from normal.. check this out..

    awesome defence (over 10000).. near 1000 min damage.. ignore target defence.. prevent monster heal.. attacker takes 45 damage.. 30% faster hit recovery.. 20% slows target.. cannot be frozen.. 30% increased speed.. 50% deadly strike.. and some other effects.. :drool:

    now when my meteorb sorc has to contend with all the fire+cold immunes, all i have to do is sit back and watch..

    There is only one bad thing: No life leech. It is almost a must if you want your merc kill some nasty bosses you cant touch

    But otherwise very nice setup :)

    yeah.. my previous setup was leach based and did very well against all bosses.. of course diablo and baal fried him a few times in NM.. but otherwise he did very well.. i havent faced a boss yet with this setup.. i will be facing hell mephisto sometime soon.. have to try it out then..

    i thought in hell, prevent monster heal might become more important than life leech.. :scratch:

    if not i have a nice rare helm that gives good defence and good life leeching.. i could switch.. :scratch:

    nice gear, but as others ahve said, no life leech. do you have a spare socket quest lyign around? you can put in a run that provides 7% life leech (what one is it? i cant remember)

    I don't mean to take over the thread, but I have a very similar build for my Act2 mercenary. I have him using a Bonehew right now (with Amn rune and -15%reqs jewel), would it be better if I gave him an Arioc's Needle?

    @kremtok.. actually im using ariocs mainly because of the damage.. my merc does abt 1000 min damage.. i think bonehew might do that too.. and it gives 30% IAS and prevents monster heal.. and 2 sockets too.. which means lot of flexibility.. id suggest you to keep it.. i dunno if ariocs +3 skills is any good on a merc.. :buddies:

    ehum PMH does not work on mercs....

    still good equipment but that mod only works when player uses it:(

    I believe that +skills does work for mercs. It should boost his aura level.

    I just tried both, and here's what I found out. With Bonehew, my Mercenary's damage is ~450-1700, and with Arioc's Needle, it's ~850-1700. It appears as if the Arioc's Needle would be better, but only at first glance. You have to consider that the majority of the additional minimum damage is from the poison damage, which takes 10 seconds to fully affect the enemy. Take away the ~400 from the minimum damage, and they're rougly equal. Now, consider that the Bonehew has 50% chance to cast level 16 Bone Spear, and it pulls ahead of the Arioc's by a wide margin. The only advantage of the Arioc's needle remaining is the +skills and the Ignore Target's Defense - both very desireable modifications - but modifications that, in my opinion, take the back seat to raw damage for a mercenary weapon.

    yeah.. true.. and thats why im looking for bonehew or some other weapon.. but i am happy with his gear as such.. :D
