1 point should be sufficient. Warmth is sort of a "luxury" skill, if you feel very annoyed by running out of mana all the time, get some more points, but usually your skill points are better spent elsewhere.

yeah warmth is never worth more than one point anymore. the mana generation just doesnt work fast enough, and you can buy mana potions at the vendors (and if you are on ladder, you can make a insight runeword for you merc). basically you wanna save your skill points for more important things, i.e., synergies. 1 point in thunderstorm is fine though, it does some decent supplemental damage.

Instead of using chain lightning, go for regular lightning instead. It uses a lot less mana than chain lightning and does a lot more damage when you get it up to higher levels and with synergies.

not true, lightning has a piercing attack. Any group of monsters will still die quickly. The damage difference is significant to notice. So you'll be killing monsters a lot faster than CL.

since cl and lightning are both synergies of one another, neither would have to be abandoned for the sake of the other. just add points as you see fit. the lightning damage will surpass cl as you increase the levels of each, and with a little practice you might be able to kill with lightning just as well as with cl.

(as a side note the little kid in me always jumps for joy as the bolt jumps all around killing everything it touches)

Yeah, they're both synergies so a pure lightning build should have maxed out CL and Lightning anyways..

On a side note, I prefer using CL just because it's so damn cool. Coolest sorc spell EVER!

I think cl can hit the same target multiple times cause it bounces back and forth.

Light sorcs are excellent Pitters, and you can easily Meph run on one without a merc (a la Moat trick) if you're good.

Baal and other bosses can be done provided you have an amazing merc.

The Pit is located in Tamoe Highland outside the Outer Cloister. Its a cave that contains monsters with equal lvl to the monsters found in wsk (hell pit and hell wsk that is).
People like to mf there because the monsters can drop nice stuff, its also a lot easier than running around in the wsk lvls.
