My grandsons characters keep getting hacked

I am not a player, but he is getting very frustrated. He keeps building his characters up to respectable levels and then someone hacks the character into non-existence. How can he stop this from happening. His last character had reached level 60 and someone hacked it away.

Welcome to the forums... er... tell your grandson to stop downloading 3rd party programs (if he is) and run a scan for keyloggers.

After that, ask him to make a difficult password with numbers, lower case letters, and upper case letters, otherwise there are programs that can guess your password with brute trial and error.

And once online, never share his password with everyone.

characters and accounts do not get hacked all of a sudden when they get to a certain level, etc. Your grandson is doing something that he isn't supposed to be doing which in turn is causing him to get hacked.

He may be using Maphack, which is illegal and often contains a trojan or key logger.
He may be running a bot which might contain a trojan or keylogger.

Both of those are violations of Blizzards EULA and will result in an account ban.

He might be visiting some of the DII related websites out there that support cheating in various ways. He might have gotten a key logger or Trojan just from going to one of those sites.
He may have fallen for one of the many scams out there, like the /DND (Accountname) (Password) scam.

He might have bought items on a site that sells duped DII items. Bad idea there.

I suggest a full uninstall and then a virus scan followed by lavasofts adware and spybot S&D.

I suggest you reinstall the whole computer.
I know its not fun to do but thats the solid way to get the virus down.
don't forget external storage divices (usb-stick sd card ect).

Virusses are a pain in the butt, but dont underestamate the spreading.

also check computers that are in the same network.

Negative on reinstalling the whole computer. That's an absolute last resort.

Does he have siblings or cousins that play the game? Maybe they're doing a nasty prank on him.
