My first light sorc

Hey all!
Im about to build my first light sorc and need some help here.
Skills:
1 ES
1 Teleport
1 Warmth
20TK
20 Charged Bolt
20 Lightning
20 Lightning Mastery
the rest in Chain lightning

Stats:
Str: Base
Dex: Base
Vitality: Almost everything
Energy: A couple of points here

Equip:
Griffon's 25/20
Eschuta +3/25
Mara 30
Viper 35 (Um or Jah)
Whistans Jah or Sanctuary
Frostburns or Bloodfist
Arach
Waterwalk
2x sojs
10x Lightning charms, Anni, sc's life/mana
Now to the question, will the ES be strong enough to be effective in PvP? Or should i max Nova for more dmg? Should i max block or go all vita/energy?
Thx

ok i decided to not go for max block, ill just rely on teleport away as defense.
But I still need help with the ES thing, so I would appreciate any help I can get :)
thx

Be sure to take a look at the stickied energy shield guides - theres a lot of good information there.

For PvP energy shield is definately a good thing. You'll need to put a lot more points in energy though.

You'll also need to take a look at your fcr.

With the listed gear you have:
25 (griffons) + 40 (eschuta) + 30 (viper) + 20 (arach) = 115

The last lightning bp is at 117....

Some options: 1 fcr ring, rare/crafted amu, lidless, magefist (a good amu would probably be best but they are not easy to come by).

You should pre-buff your es with a +9 es memory staff, +3 circlet and +3 amu

Hey
Thx for the info, but ive already read the stickies but it didnt say anything about how effective ES would be with only 1 hard point in and max TK.
About that light fcr, isnt it the same BP as other? i thought 105% was the BP :S

EDIT: Ah nvm, I saw in the lightning guide that (chain) lightning have its own fcr :)

The good thing being a light sorc is that you'll can have a good bunch of +light gear as your standard setup:
1 hard skill point
10 from skillers
1 from anni
3 from amu (prebuff)
2 from rings
9 from staff (prebuff)
3 from ormus (prebuff)
3 from cirklet (prebuff)
1 from belt
1 from CTA (if you want to switch this much!)

Result: lvl 34 ES = 89% damage absorb...not bad :D

Yeah! I didnt go the TK route this time, but ill ttry one soon and see wich one is best :) BTW I've heard ppl reaching like 45k lightning dmg, how? the only thing i can think of is getting an Ormus.

i was surprised at this too, but it occured to me that something funny is with ormus, lightning's display dmg with a 14% lightning ormus was 34k and with a coh, it was 37k, ofcoruse the items did change alittle, but im guessing that the sorcs that are saying 45k are either bsing, or they have all dmg gear and no res.

My light sorc back in the first ladder season looked like this (it did very well in pubby dueling, which doesn't necessarily mean much, but it was really the only way I could just run d2 and duel, without dealing with finding people, especially since none of my friends were into dueling)

griphon's
eschuta's
lidless
tal rasha's ammy
chains of honor
random rings
trang's gloves
arachnid mesh
sandstorm trek
anni
10 lightning skillers
resist/life sc's

this gives 25 + 40 + 20 + 20 + 20 = 125 fcr

I like this setup better because I love chains of honor, you don't need the mana from frostburns if you don't use eshield (which I didn't find worth it at all anyway) waterwalk is fine, but I already needed relatively high str because my CoH was an archon plate, and the fhr is nice. I would have used Mara's but I couldn't afford it after all the other gear. You won't need the resist from sanctuary or whitstan's (unless you want to stack I guess). Of course, now using that runeword shield might be better, although it does require a bunch of str. Switch is CTA + skills shield. SoJ's are definitely good rings, I wasn't wealthy enough to use them. Although I believe the life from BK ring is more useful than the mana from SOJ. My skills went something like this:

20 lightning
20 charged bolt
20 chain lightning
rest in nova (should have been 20 nova and rest in chain lightning)
20 lit mastery
1 warmth
1 teleport
1 thunderstorm
prereq's

Like I said, I found no use for eshield. This setup got me about 35k with a +1 shield and no soj's.

45k lightning is feasible, I believe people use a hoto staff with +3 lightning. They probably hit max resist and good life, etc with perfect gear. Wouldn't surprise me anyway. My gear was not perfect, btw (griphons was mid at best, and I only had about 3 mid facets.

Well i skilled my sorc just as u did HLB, but kinda different on the equip.
ATM She is lvl 85 and doing 34k dmg with 2.7k life.
And i chose to use sanctuary for res and the 20% fhr it give is nice :)

hmm is going ES route much better than no ES for pvp? I know my sorc w/o it pretty much gets pummeled when dueling zons and melee but otherwise shes quite fine... is it that necessary b/c if it is i might have to remake
She is currently 90 with max CL, L, CS, LM, and rest in nova with 2 points leftover. No points are added onto ES and only 1 in TK since its a prereq for tele. Any chances a 34 ES (with prebuff) will help with only lvl 1 TK?
Thanks
